Angelo: Good morning 11-Judah and maam Vanessa! I’m Angelo

Panturilla and beside me is-

Aeris: I’m Aeris Del Rosario and together we will discover and tackle
the process of communication,

Angelo: types of non-verbal communication, elements of

communication

Aeris: and lastly, the models of communication. But before we go into

that, what is communication?

Angelo: Communication is a process of exchanging informations

verbally or Non-verbally. So what we did just now is called
“Communication!”

Aeris: Let us take a look at an example of Communications!

*aeris and I goes towards Emman and Roderick whose playing together”

Angelo: it looks like that they’re playing!

Aeris: lets listen to what they’re saying,

Emman: Bro he’s low! He’s hiding in the bush

Roderick: Thanks bro I got it!

Emman: Nice! There’s another one at the upper left corner!

Roderick: where? I can’t see him I can’t- no he killed me!

Emman: where did he show up?

Roderick: at the upper right corner bro. You said left.

Emman: oh, my bad bro

Aeris: as you can see, communications is important when playing

together

Angelo: because information is crucial to games and exchanging

informations is called, Communication.

Aeris: further more, there are at least 4-5 processes of communication.

Angelo: those are the Stimulus, Sender, Receiver, Feedback, and Noise.
Aeris: we will use the previous conversation of emman and roderick to
distinguish the processes.

Angelo: as you can see on the board is the dialouges of their

conversation. The first one is the stimulus. it is the idea or concept
activated by the sender.

Aeris: what do you think is the stimulus right here? —- The stimulus
would be the HP and whereabouts of their enemies. Second one is the
sender. The sender simply incodes the message.

Angelo: on that particular chat, Emman is the sender as he incodes the

message that the enemies are low and is hiding on the bush. Third one is
the receiver.

Aeris: The receiver is the exact opposite of sender. They receieve or

encodes the message sent by the sender. The answer of the receiver
would be called The feedback.

Angelo: The last one is called Noise and it is the cause of the
breakdowns in a communication. The noise was emman’s false
information leading to the death of roderick’s character.

Aeris: but here is something that you should keep in mind. When the
receiver gives feedbacks, They become the sender and the first sender
now becomes the receiver.

Angelo: but im wondering, stated in the meaning of communication is

that informations are exchanged verbally and NON Verbally.
Aeris: Good point! Now, lets head on to Types of non verbal
communication. Non verbal communication functions as stated in its
name. Not verbally.

Angelo: we have 5 types of Non Verbal Communications. One is

Proxemics, two is Kinesics, three is Chronemics

Aeris: fourth one is Paralanguage and the last one is Haptics. Let us start
tackle-ing Proxemics. Proxemics simply involves the distance that
affects the sender and receiver’s communication.

Angelo: for example, here we have a Julia and Jr. Julia is buying some
bags while Jr comes close into julia and julia felt awkward so she moves
a little far from jr.

Aeris: Next one is Kinesics, which uses the body language in a

communication. Emman and roderick are close friends and everytime
they see each other, they give hugs. Emman opened his arms and
roderick ran fast to give his best buddy a hug.

Angelo: Chronemics includes the time in the communication. One

example of this is Julia getting ready for work hastily as she is late. Next
one is Paralanguage and it uses the tone, speed, and volume of the
speaker’s voice. Example of this is jr clearing his throat signaling to
make way to julia and roderick while they are talking to each other.

Aeris: The final one is Haptics. The use of touch to convey the meaning
of the conversation. Julia and emman shaking each other’s hands
meaning that they’ve agreed on something.
Angelo: I believe that we covered the whole entirety of types of non
verbal communication. Let’s head on to Elements of Communication.

Aeris: Elements of communication focuses on each aspects that’s

important to a conversation. There are 5 elements, namely participants,
Context, Message, Channel, aand feedback.

Angelo: First up is Participants. The participants are the communicators

or the sender or receiver. Second is the Context. Context refers to the
interrelated conditions that affects the communication.

Aeris: and there are 4 types of contexts. Physical, Psychological.

Cultural, and social. Physical context contains the place, time,
environment, and distance. We can see here that julia, jr and emman are
talking about their homework at school.

Julia: Hey! Have you done our assignment?

Jr: Yeah! I did it a couple of hours ago in our classroom, didnt you see
me?

Roderick: I still haven’t done mine

Aeris: as you heard, the Physical context there is the the school.

Angelo: the next context is psychological that involves feelings and

mood. Let’s take a look at this conversation.

Roderick: Hey! I’m just here to tell you that Gab won’t be able to join us
later as he is sick.
Jr: Oh, okay thank you for letting me know!

Aeris: Roderick tells jr that gab wont be able to join them as he is sick
and therefore, the psychological context is gab’s sickness.

Angelo: cultural context on the other hand portrays the different beliefs
of numerous people.

Julia: hey roderick! What’s that vegetable called?

Roderick: oh that? It’s called “utong”

Julia: what?! Don’t be rude!

Roderick: oh! Sorry i meant String beans! I only called it “utong”

because in Nueva Ecija, we call it that.

Julia: oh? Well nice to know!

Angelo: the cultural context is the way how roderick says utong instead
of string beans.

Aeris: final one is the social context which means the relationship of the
communicators.

Angelo: An example of social context is a family that eats dinner

together lively.
Aeris: the third elements of communication is the message. It is the main
point of having communication and is somehow similar to the stimulus.
It is also important to be stated clearly.

Angelo: next one is the Channel. The channel is the means of delivering
the message. It can be face to face, letters, phone call, e-mail, or the
social media.

Aeris: the last one is the feedback. The same as the process of
communication. It refers to the response of the receiver.

Angelo: The last topic is Models of communication. It refers to the

conceptual representation that is used to explain the process.

Aeris: 3 types of models are Linear, Interactive, and Transactional.

Linear communication model can be also called the one way activity.
The receiver only accepts the message sent by the sender. No feedbacks
whatsoever.

Angelo: Jr and julia is here to for us to show us an example of linear

model.

Jr: hey julia! Can you buy me a soda?

Aeris: as you can see, Julia did not give any feedback. Therefore being
called a one way activity.
Angelo: next model is called Interactive model. Also called a two way
activity and the receiver gives a feedback. Let us use the same example.

Jr: hey julia! Can you buy me a soda?

Julia: yea sure!

Aeris: julia gave a feedback, therefore making it an interactive model.

Angelo: last one is the Transactional Model. Transactional model is a

simultaneous activity that includes both the receiver and sender’s
feedback. Is is also a dynamic activity.

Aeris: again, let us use the same example but make it a transactional
model.

Jr: hey julia! Can you buy me a soda?

Julia: yeah! But where can I buy those?

Jr: right around the corner, but how much do i need?

Julia: i think it would cost you just around 15pesos.

Jr: thank you!

Angelo: as you can see, a lot of feedbacks were given back and forth
therefore making it a transactional model.
Aeris: a couple of details are needed. Like the past experience. It is
based on the status of the participants and the environment can also
affect the communication.

Angelo: that concludes and ends our video about what you need to know
in communication. Again. I am angelo

Aeris: i am aeris, and this is our groupmates.

Angelo: thank you for staying till the end! Goodbye!
