1 Skein Glitter-thread LINIE 344 STARLIGHT Color 01
- all made by Online yarns
and additionally 2 skeins of RUGIADA- ROSA from Adriafil *with a delicate
sparkle ( 50gr- 135 m)
You could of course use any yarn with a similar gauge!
This text has 48 photos and 22 pages.
Weight of the finished “Wings of Love“ shawl 520 gr
..
Useful hints:
- Weave in loose threads ASAP
- If there is anything you’re not so good at – there are lots of useful videos
on YouTube – I have learnt a lot about crocheting there myself !
- I start each new round or row with 3 chains for one double crochet
- and 5 chains for one treble crochet
- Rounds are always closed with one slip stitch
- When changing colors, use a double thread for the first 3 to 4 stitches, that
way you can forget weaving in the ends

And now – have fun!
Translator’s notes: on request, I have added a stitch count up to the wavy row – from
there on, everything should be obvious.
!!!IMPORTANT: if you use different yarns – or cakes maybe – and do not break and
change yarn in the same places as Petra does, please check if she starts with a front or
a back row. After one front row, she may start in another front row with the new
yarn!!!
I recommend reading through the whole of the pattern before you start.
Begin with main color (white-Merino Supercool L155). Make 4 chains
and form a circle by making a slip stitch into the first chain....
continue with 3 chains and crochet 11 double crochets into the circle
(crocheting over your loose end as you go)
Turn work and crochet back:
starting again with 3 chains, and
3 more chains and one double crochet
at the foot of the first one,
continue with two double crochets
into each double crochet of previous row.
22 stitches
...turn your work and crochet back:
starting again with 3 chains
continue with a first front post double
crochet, slung around the double crochet
below (see picture)...
- 1 ordinary double crochet
- 1 front post double crochet
- 1 ordinary double crochet
- 1 front post double crochet
until the end of the row (1 or 2 ordinary
double crochets). You will have 10 front post
double crochets with one dc between and two
at the beginning and the end.
...turn work and crochet back: start with 3
chains+1 ordinary double crochet
continue with 2 ordinary double crochets
between the 10 back post double crochets
(THIS BEING A BACK ROW):
32 st
You may need a little practice here, but
believe me – they’re fun!
and from now on in each row
- no matter if front or back – always
increase the ordinary double crochets BY
ONE
- meaning: 3 double crochets = 44 st
- and 4 double crochets in the following row.
54 st
- repeat this row of 4 double crochets
once again
54 st
continue with one row of 5 ordinary double crochets
...and as you can see in the picture, there
are always ordinary double crochets at the
beginning and at the end. = 65 st
....do not break the Merino yarn, but pull the skein
through your last loop. We will need this yarn again in
the second to next row – so I simply take it up at the
edge...
Changing yarn:
one more row with 5 ordinary
double crochets between the
front post double crochets
but with the fluffy- white DAVINA
yarn:
(this yarn is broken and
weaved in after this row)
65 st
continue with the Merino yarn
start with 3 chains
and 1 double crochet at the foot of the 3 chains :
Great!
Now sling your stitches around
the double crochet like this
make loops from the front and the back
alternately - 6 front, 6 back
(don’t pull too hard, make loose loops)
until you have 12 loops altogether on
your hook:
Skip one double crochet of the
previous row, insert the hook into
the following double crochet and
pull the thread through (only for the
first Bullion stitch)
and pull this thread through ALL 12
loops at once
You may need a little practice here,
the looser your loops are the easier it
gets.
Continue with one chain
This wonderful stitch from Freeform crocheting is called Bullion
Stitch...! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05m6zj0PgRg)
Again, skip one stitch and
make one double crochet into
the following double crochet
Loop around the double
crochet front/back 6 times
as described above.
Pull your yarn through the foot of
the double crochet, then through
the 12 loops, then make 1chain
continue this way until the end
of the row.
(you should have34 Bullion
stitches in this row)
....do not break the Merino yarn,
but pull the skein through your
last loop.
We will need this yarn again in the
second to next row –
so I simply take it up along the edge.
Continue with fluffy-pink DAVINA plus glitter-thread
start right at the edge – before the
first Bullion stitch
with
3 chains+ 1 double crochet
continue with 2 double crochets
between the
Bullion stitches
and 2 double crochets after the last
Bullion stitch = 70 st
*** You should try to have equal
numbers of stitches at the
beginning and at the end of each
row for an even look.***
....do not break the fluffy pink yarn, but pull the
skein through your last loop. We will need
this yarn again in the second to next row –
so I simply take it up along the edge.
Continue with the white Merino yarn
start with 3 chains
and 1 double crochet at the foot
of the 3 chains:
Now, as before, make the white
Bullion stitch between the 2 pink
double crochets but , as we will need
an increase in this row, always make
2 chains between the Bullion
stitches! 35 bullion st
...Make one more row with fluffy-pink DAVINA plus glitter- thread
...start with 3 chains+ 1 double crochet and make 3 double
crochets between all the Bullion stitches
and 3 double crochets after the last Bullion stitch. = 108 st
....continue with the fluffy-pink yarn! ...There is one more rather simple row:
double crochets only ...start with 3 chains = 108 st
Now change to RUGIADA- ROSA from Adriafil
Start with 5 chains+ 1 chain and continue with 1 treble crochet
-1 chain, 1 treble crochet
-1 chain, 1 treble crochet etc..... = 108 tcs
continue with the RUGIADA-
ROSA yarn ....all the treble
crochets will be used as steeks.
Make 9 single crochets on
each treble crochet – either 9
up or 9 down…
Starting where you are - at the turquoise cross in the picture
Continue with 9 single
crochets down
9 single crochets up
plus 1 single crochet
between 2 treble crochets
( white cross)
9 single crochets down
etc...
...until the end of the row.
End with 9 upward stitches if
possible = 54 waves
(if you can’t, simply take the
last two treble crochets as one
steek ....)
continue with the fluffy-white
DAVINA plus glitter-thread
crocheting between the steeks - only where there are NO single crochets at the
top...
Make 3 double crochets (i.e. a group of double crochets)
Start with: 3 chains+2 double crochets,
continue with 3 double crochets each time...
continue with the white Merino-yarn
W e w i l l m a k e t h e f i r s t r o w o f Angel scales..which will be
a row of STEEKS
IMPORTANT: we will continue with crocheting onto these steeks,
making the scales of the angel wings, which should face FRONT!
*so, please start this ROW OF STEEKS in a way that the next row is
facing front.
Start the ROW OF STEEKS on the 3 chains+1 double crochet between
double crochet group one and two
make 2 chains
....always 2 chains between two groups of double crochets
ONLY THE end is different!
Make only 1 double crochet
continue with 3 chains and 1 single crochet beside the last double crochet
..continue with 3
chains and 1 single
crochet into the
utmost
corner of the last
group of double
crochets
.... turn your work and make 6
double crochets into the
3 chains
( next to the last double crochet)
..and 2 chains to form a peak
then 6 double crochets down
onto the last double crochet of
the previous row. Continue with
one single crochet BETWEEN
the next 2 double crochet steeks
of the previous row (this way, the
angel scales will be attached)
Onto the next 2 double crochets (steeks)
6 double crochets up,
2 chains as peak,
6 double crochets down
Continue with one single crochet BETWEEN the next 2 double crochets (steeks)
of the previous row
(the angel scales will always be attached in this way!)
etc.... to the end of the row – I have 27 angel scales here:
You may find these 3 rows of angel scales a little tiresome, but it’s getting
much easier from now on. You might even say boring!
Back to steek row number two – for the second row of angel scales
.....the last 6 downward double crochets are attached with one single
crochet right at the edge (red cross)
Continue with 3 single crochets.to sneak your way up here (you could
make 3 slip stitches instead)
3 chains and 1 more double crochet at the foot of the 3 chains
plus 2 chains
and again 2 double crochets
in the middle of one angel
scale...just sneak into it –
easy!
....2 chains
and 2 double crochets
between 2 double crochets
of the previous row
...2 chains etc...
AND end like that:
1 double crochet onto the middle
of the 6 double crochets
(up the previous row )
3 chains
and one single crochet into the last
double crochet 3 chains
These will be attached at the
bottom with one single crochet
(arrow):
Turn work once more.
Make 6 double crochets up and
2 chains as peak
Continue the angel scales row as
before....
....only now the
angel scales
will be alternated
into the spaces
6 double crochets down at the end of the row
Continue with 1 single crochet, attach,
and sneak upwards with 3 slip stitches
Make 6 chains to start the steeks for the third row of
angel scales..
......but with treble crochets and 3 chains in between this time!
At the end of this row of treble crochet steeks, make one last treble crochet in
the middle of the 6 double crochets from the
previous row
Continue with 5 chains:
Attach these 5 chains with
1 single crochet beside the
last double crochet
Continue with 4 chains,
attached with 1 single
crochet below.
turn your work and make
9 double crochets up
2 chains as peak
and
9 double crochets
down
Attach with one single
crochet behind the angel
scales of the previous row
etc....as before… only this
time we’ll have 9 double
crochets
The last stitch will be one
single crochet after
9 double crochets
down.
Done!
Break and weave in the
Merino thread
And now – the fluffy-white DAVINA + glitter-thread
Start behind the first angel scale
in the middle under the peak with 3 chains+ 1 double crochet,
continue with 2 chains and 2 double crochets in the same place ( making
a V- double crochet group!)
continue:
2 double crochets
2 chains
2 double crochets...
between 2 double
crochets
of the previous row
Continue with
2 double crochets
2 chains
2 double
crochets...again
behind one angel
scale
etc...until the last
angel scale
continue with 3 chains
and the first V- double crochet group of the next row in the middle of the
V-double crochet group below... a real simple row, this one!. Better still:
we have two of these. .The last stitch always being 1 double crochet right at
the edge.
Make 2 more of these rows with the white-Merino and
2 double crochets
2 chains
2 double crochets between 2 double crochets of the previous row
ALWAYS start with 3 chains
and the last stitch will ALWAYS be 1 double crochet right at the edge... which
will make one first and one last row of steeks at both edges… we will need
these to crochet single crochets onto with the fluffy-pink yarn!
Three more 3 rows of:
3 double crochets
2 chains
3 double crochets between 2 double crochets of the previous row
(photo shows the first of these rows)
After these 3 rows of 3 double crochets I place a marker into the middle
and continue crocheting not quite to the middle and back
at each turn at the bottom edge I decrease by one
row of “wing tips”, as I call them.
Both sides have to be of the same width:
one row of wing tips less on the left and on the right – 5 times(which makes ten
rows, as we crochet front and back on both sides!)
I continued with decreasing by
3 times 3 rows of wing tips
1 time 2 rows of wing tips
and 12 times 1 row of wing tips
....until only one row of wing tips is left!
always one row of wing tips less – quite simple, isn’t it?
and I maintain the 3 double crochets --- 2 chains..3 double crochets
throughout
so that both wings will be identical… Yippie!
I continue with making borders around the wings and each row of wing tips (20 rows
each!)
with fluffy pink – with or without sparkle thread, as you wish.
Start at the green arrow..(photo above) on the steeks (the double crochets
or the first 3 chains at the edges)
Make 3 single crochets up to the first peak each time
continue on the peak with 3 single crochets up as peak: 2 single
crochets...2 chains... 2 single crochets and 3 single crochets
down.....
continue downwards between the rows with 2 chains..
these 2 chains will be attached between the next
V- double crochet groups with one single crochet.
...two more chains....etc...
these strips between the
wing tips will all be 20 stitches
deep. Then turn and back to
the following peak
This is tedious work, but
rewarding in the end.
These strips are worked up to
the fluffy white row only,
and equal on both sides, of course.
You will need the patience of an angel here … can be fun,
though .....!
And now one last row of the peaks with RUGIADA- ROSA – just for the fun of it:
I made the strips between the wing tips only 2 rows deep here… feel free to
make them as deep as you like
As for the peaks -
like the ones before: single crochets, 2 up, 2 down, more on the sides.
And last, but not least, iron out the peaks – looks better that way!
Now you’re done – congratulations!
You can show off and enjoy this wonderful piece of handicraft!
Woolly greetings from
Munich
