What do you feel?

What might this taste?

B - Lesson Proper
1. Activity

Based on your answers, why did you come up

with those words after seeing those pictures? Because it is what we see, ma’am, and how
we feel when looking at those pictures.

Okay thank you for that. Another? Me, ma’am, because those words accurately
describe what we imagine when we see those
pictures.

2. Analysis

Okay very good. It is the accurate words to

describe what did you imagine.

Now do you have any idea what is our topic I think our topic for today ma’am is about
for today? imagery.

Yes, you are right our topic for today is about

elements of poetry but we will only be
focusing on one element which is the
imagery.

Do you have any idea what is imagery? (Student will answer)

Very good thank you for that.

But before we proceed let us look in our

learning objectives for today’s discussion.
Everybody please read. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be
able to:

1. Define imagery in poetry,

2. Reflect on how imagery enhances
emotional connections and make themes more
meaningful and;
3. Create poems that effectively use imagery
to convey ideas and emotions.
3. Abstraction

Let’s start our discussion. Everybody please

read what is imagery. Imagery – Descriptive language that appeals
to the senses creating vivid mental pictures
and sensory experiences for the reader.

Imagery helps poets convey ideas and

feelings in a way that resonates deeply with
the audience, making the abstract more
tangible and relatable.

Please kindly read.

For example:
- Sunset (Sight): The sky blazed with
streaks of orange and pink as the sun
dipped below the horizon, painting the
world with its golden glow.
- Mall (Hear): The chatter of
shoppers, the distant hum of a
carousel, and the rhythmic beat of
upbeat music filled the air as we
wandered through the mall.
- Rose (Smell): The sweet, delicate
fragrance of blooming roses lingered
in the air, a gentle reminder of a
peaceful garden in spring.
- Bricks (Texture): The rough, cold
surface of the weathered bricks
pressed against my hand, their uneven
edges telling stories of age and
history.
- Cake (Taste): The rich, velvety
chocolate cake melted on my tongue,
its sweet, bittersweet flavor a perfect
treat to end the day.

How imagery enhances emotional

connections and making more themes
meaningful? Kindly read please. Imagery enhances emotional connections by
drawing readers into the poem's world. It
makes the themes and emotions more vivid,
personal, and relatable.
By engaging the senses, imagery allows
readers to experience what the poet feels,
leading to a stronger emotional impact.
When poets use imagery effectively, they
deepen the meaning of their themes by linking
emotions to specific, sensory experiences.
This makes abstract ideas like love, loss, or
hope feel more real and immediate to readers.
Imagery transforms universal themes into
personal experiences, allowing readers to
connect on a deeper level and find their own
meaning within the poem.

I will give brief explanation and examples of

the 5 senses so you can have a more idea on
how to identify imagery and how it connects
to the readers experiences. Kindly read
please. 5 SENSES
1. Sense of Sight: The ability to see, detect
colors, shapes, and movements using the eyes.
2. Sense of Hearing: The ability to hear
sounds and distinguish tones, pitches, and
rhythms using the ears.
3. Sense of Taste: The ability to detect flavors
such as sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami
using the tongue.
4. Sense of Smell: The ability to detect and
identify scents using the nose.
5. Sense of Touch: The ability to feel
sensations such as pressure, temperature,
texture, and pain using the skin and sensory
receptors.

Now you already know what is imagery in

poetry. Do you have any questions? None ma’am.
Clarifications?

4. Application

Okay so now we will have an activity in order

to find that you already understand imagery.
I will divide you into 4 groups your activity
will be creating your own poem using Direction:

imagery effectively to convey ideas. The
