handle an unexpected situation. Describe a time when you were faced with something unexpected
and what you learned in the process.
4. Preconceived notions often turn out to be false. Describe a time when you discovered that a
preconceived notion of yours (about a person, place, or thing) was wrong.
5. It isn’t always easy to do what is right, and sometimes it can even be dangerous. Describe a time
when you put yourself at risk (physically, socially, emotionally, or professionally) to do what you
thought was right.
6. The first time we try something new can be exciting, frightening, and enlightening. Tell about an
important “first” in your life and what you learned from the experience.
7. When we are faced with challenges and difficult situations, we sometimes discover strengths we
