How to instantly calm your mind:

(I wish I knew this trick sooner).

Written by Jade Bonacolta

Step 1:
Get a pen and paper
(or open a blank note on your laptop).
Step 2: Ask yourself:

What’s my biggest worry right now?

What are all the fears in the back of
my mind?

(Trust me. This part is freeing.)

Step 3: Now empty those thoughts
onto the page (and out of your head).

Get extremely specific.

If everything goes wrong, what
would it look like?
What would it feel like?
What would the impact be?
Step 4: Consider this:

How likely is that worst case

scenario? 5% chance? 10%?
If it does happen, what steps could
you take to repair the damage, even
if temporarily?
How could you get things back
under control?

(Chances are, it’s easier than you think.)

Step 5: Lastly, imagine the other
possible outcomes.

What’s the best thing that could

happen instead?
What does that look like?

Get as specific as possible.

Imagine that’s happening right now.

Instead of trying to suppress your
worries, give them space and time.

Once they're out of your head

and onto a page,

you’ll instantly feel lighter.

And you’ll make space in your head

for the best-case scenario.
