post of Asstt. Law Officer on the establishment of Legal Department of
Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika.

Compartmental Reservation
For physically Handicapped :- One post will be filled in from the candidates
belonging to the category of partially blind or
partially deaf or orthopedically handicapped.
Woman Candidates - 30% reservation.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Candidates should possess a degree in Law from a recognized University.
2. Age of the candidate should not be more than 40 years and 45 years in
case of candidates belonging to Backward Classes and physically
handicapped as on 1-5-2008.
3. The candidate should be on the Panel of Advocates maintained by the Bar
Council of State of Maharashtra for not less than 4 years.
4. The candidate must possess good knowledge and experience of the
procedure of Civil and Criminal Courts.
5. The candidate should have passed S.S.C. or equivalent or higher level
examination with Marathi subject of 100 marks (higher or lower level).
6. The candidate should possess certificate of D.O.E.A.C.C. “ Society’s
“C.C.C.” or “O” level or “A” level or “B” level or “C” level or M.S.-C.I.T. or
G.E.C.T. Certificate of Maharashtra State Higher Technical Education Board
or should pass the MSCIT examination prescribed by the government within
two years from the date of appointment, otherwise services of candidates
will be terminated.
7. At any stage of the selection if the Municipal Commissioner is of the opinion
that the candidate belonging to SC,ST and DT NT possessing the requisite
experience are not likely to be available the period of experience i.e.
practise as advocate can be relaxed by one year at the sole discretion of the
Municipal Commissioner.
Candidates fulfilling the above qualifications, terms and conditions should remain
present at the venue and date mentioned below with the application in prescribed
format alongwith all the original certificates and attested photo copies thereof.
Criteria for Selection
Select list will be prepared from the eligible candidates fulfilling the requisite
qualifications/terms/conditions on the basis of average percentage of marks
obtained in S. S. C. examination, H.S.C. examination, Degree examination and
L.L.B. Examination.
The decision of the selection committee shall be final.
Selection Procedure
1. Candidates applying only for open category post, though belonging to
reserved category, will be considered for the open category post only.
2. If the candidates belonging to reserved category apply for open category
post ,they will not be considered for the reserved post on that day.
3. The candidates selected in the post reserved for their respective category
will be appointed against the post of that respective category only and will
not be appointed on the post of open category though they may have
secured higher marks.
4. Backward class candidates who have applied and are selected for open
category will be considered and appointed in the open category only.
5. On getting the required number of candidates (categorywise) further
recruitment process will be discontinued.

General Conditions :
1. Appointments will be made as per the requirement and availability of vacant
posts.
2. Number of posts and reservation mentioned in the advertisement are
subject to change
3. Application form should be filled in the prescribed format in own handwriting
and should be complete in all respects. Applications not in the prescribed
format or incomplete in any manner will not be considered.
4. Latest Passport size photograph with signature of the candidate on it should
be affixed at the space provided for the same on the application. Two copies
of said photograph be produced by the applicant for further recruitment
process.
5. Paper to be used for application should be of good quality and in A4 size
(used for photostat copies).
6. Address for correspondence should be written clearly with Postal Pincode
number.
7. Physically handicapped candidates shall bring original as well as photostat
copy of disability certificate with minimum 40% disability duly certified by the
Competent Authority.
8. As per Government policy, posts reserved for Partially Blind/ Partially Deaf-
Dumb/ Orthopaedically handicapped person will be filled in on priority as per
roster.
9. The selected candidate shall deposit cash equivalent to one month’s salary
of the said post or shall submit Surety Bond to that effect before
appointment.
10. Candidate should bring original as well as certified photostat copies of
S.S.C., H.S.C., Degree & L.L.B. examination certificates/mark lists, caste
certificate obtained from the Competent Authority/Caste Validity Certificate/
Disability Certificate/Non Creamy Layer certificate/ experience certificate
etc. at the time of selection.
11. The candidates appointed after selection will be governed by Brihanmumbai
Mahanagarpalika (Service) Regulations, 1989 and Brihanmumbai
Mahanagarpalika (Conducts) Rules, 1999.
12. Selected candidates will be appointed in any office of Brihanmumbai
Mahanagaralika and their services will be transferable to any office of the
Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika.
13. The selected candidate will be appointed on probation for three years and
the continuation thereafter will depend on the performance of the candidate
during probation period.
14. Reservation prescribed for D.T.(A), N.T.(B), N.T.(C), N.T.(D) is inter-
changeble.
15. The candidates belonging to reserved category other than S.C. & S.T.
candidates shall submit the latest non-creamy layer certificate issued by the
competent authority at the time of recruitment/appointment.
16. The candidates belonging to reserved category other than S.T. Category
candidates shall submit their caste validity certificates within 6 months from
the date of appointment failing which the candidates will be reappointed
after giving one day official break in service.
17. S.T. candidates must submit the caste validity certificates, at the time of
selection /appointment. Their appointment will be made only after
submission of caste validity certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
18. Backward Class candidates migrated from other States in Maharashtra will
not be considered for reserved posts.
19. The candidates will not be eligible for selection if he/she is convicted of any
offence involving moral turpitude or of Criminal Nature.
20. Candidates shall submit details of any police enquiry/pending Court case/
any order passed by the Competent Authority including the Court of Law
against him/her.
21. Appointment shall be made on receipt of Police Verification Report
confirming the character and credentials of the candidate. However,
appointment made subject to receipt of Police Verification Report will be
summarily terminated in case of receipt of reports indicating involvement of
the candidates in criminal activities and containing negative references
about his/her charecter.
22. The candidate shall ensure that he/she fulfills the prescribed qualifications
and the terms and conditions for the post applied for and at any stage if it is
revealed that the candidate is not fulfilling the prescribed qualification and
terms and conditions, his/her candidature will be rejected.
23. If at any stage during the selection process or after appointment it is
revealed that the candidate has provided wrong information/
certificates/documents or concealed any vital information, his/her
candidature will be cancelled. Similarly, if he/she is appointed, his/her
appointment will be terminated without any notice and such candidate will
render himself/herself liable for action under the appropriate law.
24. Candidates shall remain present for the selection at their own expenses.

1. If any candidate during the process of recruitment tries to pressurize or
indulges in unfair practices or arranges dummy, he/she will be declared ineligible.
