My mom is quite sociable/extroverted. She loves going


out, throwing parties, and meeting new people.

sociable/extroverted: A person is sociable who likes


talking to everyone and making friends. An extrovert.

I got Ryan a nice Christmas present, but he was so ill-


mannered, he didn’t even say thank you.

Ill-mannered: Someone who doesn’t have good manners.

She is bossy and doesn’t listen to other people’s ideas.

Bossy: A person is bossy when they tell other people what


to do. They give too many orders, and they don’t listen to
other people.
She is ambitious and wants to be a doctor one day.

Ambitious: A person who dreams of becoming successful.

My sister is self-confident and tries new things without


fear.

Self-confident: A person who believes in themselves.

Tom is tight-fisted and always avoids paying for dinner.

Tight-fisted: stingy, doesn’t want to pay money.

My friend is half-witted and always asks silly questions in


class.

Half-witted: Silly, someone who is not very intelligent.


Ryan is a very talented basketball player.

Talented: Skilled, be good at something.

Ryan is very honest.

Honest: A person is honest when they always speak the


truth.

She is naïve and trusts everyone easily.

Naïve: A person who is a very innocent. They tend to


believe everything they have been told.

Emily is very insecure about the way she looks, and she
always needs reassurance from people.

Insecure: A person who lacks self-confidence. They think


they are not good enough.
My friend’s father is very rich, but my friend is down-to-
earth and never brags about his wealth.

Down-to-earth: Not pretending to be more important.

George is cunning and tricks others to get what he wants.

My neighbor is cunning and pretends to be kind to get


favors.

Cunning: Very clever, and they mainly use tricks or lie to


other people to get what they want.

Honey thinks she is the best and everyone thinks she is


arrogant.

Arrogant: When you think you’re the best!

Honey is determined to teach Ryan perfect English by the


end of next year.
Determined: When you really want to do something.

Honey is thrifty and always looks for sales.

Thrifty: Careful about spending money.

Honey is very moody. Sometimes she is very happy, and


the next moment, she is upset for no reason.

Moody: Temperamental. Your mood changes very


quickly.

Honey is quite forgetful. She promises Avery that she’s


going to send her homework, but she never does.

Forgetful: Someone who has poor memory.


My cousin is very greedy and tries to take all the money.

Greedy: Someone who wants more and more money,


food, or possessions.

Honey is nosy and always asks Carlos questions about his


personal life.

Nosy: Someone who doesn’t mind their own business.


Someone who wants to know what other people are doing
in their lives.

My brother was eating candy. My mum asked him to stop


eating candy, but my brother was too stubborn to listen.

Stubborn: Someone who doesn’t listen to other people


and does what they want to do.

I saw a very charming girl at the airport.

Charming: Attractive, pleasant


My mother is very affectionate and cares about everyone.

Affectionate: Loving.

Ryan is a bright boy. He is good at every subject!

Bright: Very intelligent

Teacher Honey broke into tears upon seeing a cat run over
by a car. She is very sensitive.

Sensitive: easily feel the emotions, or easily get hurt.

Ryan is very enthusiastic about his next basketball match.

Enthusiastic: very excited


The old teachers don’t like teaching online, but the
younger teachers are very open-minded about the use of
new tools and technologies for teaching.

Open-minded: To accept new ideas and to listen to other’s


opinions.
