I) Reading Comprehension Questions
Social media has become an integral part of modern society, with its influence extending to various aspects of our
lives. While some argue that it has a positive impact, the detrimental effects of social media cannot be ignored. The
overuse of social networking platforms has led to addiction, the spread of unreliable information, privacy issues, and
negative impacts on mental health, self-esteem and relationships. Supporters of social media may argue that it allows for
connectivity and the sharing of information, but these arguments fail to address the significant harm it causes. Despite its
potential for positive use, the adverse effects of social media outweigh its benefits.
Arguments supporting the positive aspects of social media emphasize its contribution to global connectivity and the
rapid sharing of information. However, while these are valid points, they do not negate the harmful consequences of
social media usage. The witness supporting the detrimental impact of social media is abundant. For instance, a study
revealed that 49% of social media users spread unreliable news, contributing to the prevalence of misinformation.
Additionally, the addictive nature of social media is highlighted by the fact that one in five people use social media at
least once a day, and 19% of Americans consider it a method of social interaction used daily. In response to the potential
benefits of social media, it is important to acknowledge that it can indeed facilitate connectivity and information sharing.
However, these benefits do not outweigh the significant harm caused by addiction, misinformation, privacy issues, and
negative impacts on mental health.
In conclusion, while social media has its potential for positive use, the evidence overwhelmingly supports the notion that
its adverse effects outweigh its benefits. It is crucial for individuals, especially students, to be aware of these negative
impacts and to use social media responsibly.

While traditional societal expectations may have placed a woman's primary role in the home, contemporary
advancements and values necessitate recognizing that her place is wherever she chooses to pursue fulfillment

not consider the diverse talents, skills, and ambitions that women possess.

Critics may argue that emphasizing a woman's role in the home is essential for maintaining family stability and
fostering a nurturing environment for children.

Rebuttal:

However, women should have the freedom to choose their paths based on individual preferences, skills, and
