 Location
Delhi is in north India, on the west bank of the Yamuna River, a tributary of
the Ganges. It's bordered by the state of Uttar Pradesh to the east and the
state of Haryana to the north, west, and south.
 Size
Delhi covers an area of 1,483 square kilometers (573 square miles). The city
proper is 360 square miles (932 square kilometers).
 Population
Delhi's population is over 167.88 lakhs, with 163.69 lakhs in urban areas and
4.19 lakhs in rural areas.
 Languages
The main languages spoken in Delhi are Hindi, English, Punjabi, and Urdu.
 Climate
Delhi has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers and mild
winters. The average annual temperature is around 25 °C (77 °F).
 History
Delhi has been the capital of several dynasties, including the Mauryas,
Pallavas, Guptas, Turks, Afghans, and Mughals. The British established rule
in Delhi in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Delhi became the capital of
British India in 1911.
 Culture
Delhi is a diverse city with people from many religious communities.
 Economy
Delhi is India's largest commercial center in northern India and a major
center for small industries.
 Agriculture
The main food crops in Delhi are wheat, bajra, jowar, gram, and
maize. However, the focus has shifted to vegetables, fruits, dairy, poultry
farming, and floriculture.
