Web ECAT is a web-based tool that provides access to

chassis part information. By entering a truck's chassis
number, you can access the specific Bills of Materials
(BOMs) used to build that truck. For a service technician,
this means you can get the specific wiring, piping, and
routing diagrams used to build that truck.

The two ways to search in Web ECAT are:

• Visual (search by clicking the illustration)

• Keyword (search using a specific term)

The four ways to search by keyword in Web ECAT are:

• by BOM; searches only Bills of Materials

2. To visually search for part information, click a part
numbers and titles
shown in the illustration. For example click
• by Part; searches only part numbers and part A the exhaust stack.

• by Remark; searches only remarks, reference
information, shop notes and diagram numbers
• by All; searches all three; BOM, Part, and
Remark.
These filters can expand or narrow your search results,
depending on the search keywords used.

Tips:

• If a search results in too little information, try using

the ALL button to expand the search.
• If a search results in too much information, try using
a more specific term in the Enter Search Phrase
box (for example, try ECU rather than ABS ECU).
• ECAT can only search for the exact term that is used
in the BOMs or in the Alternate Terms. If you have a
keyword that you've searched for without success
and feel it should be an Alternate Term, please
contact kwcustomerservice@paccar.com and we'll
consider adding it to ECAT. Include the chassis
number in your E-mail.

Sometimes a keyword search using a logical term choice

will not produce the desired search results.

For example, a keyword search using Link, air, or susp

will not produce a list of parts for the Link air suspension.

In this case, you must use the term spnsn (the parts
BOM description of the part).

Searching for the ABS ECU part 3. This search results in a list of parts with abs in the
description.

Sometimes a keyword search using a too broad of a term

will not produce the desired search results.

For example, a keyword search using abs will produce a

list of parts with abs as part of the description. However,
a search using the term ecu will result in a much more
limited list of parts.

NOTE: ECAT searches for descriptions that use all or

part of the keyword. For example, a search for abs will
return results like ABS Valve and Shock Absorber.

1. Type chassis number 969873 in the A Enter Serial

Number box and then click B Search.

Search Phrase box, and then click B the Part
button.

Tip: If you did not get the search results you wanted, try
using a more descriptive term (for example, ecu) in step
one. Always try to use the most specific term possible for
a keyword search. Remember, ECAT searches for
descriptions that use all or part of the keyword.

Searching for 16 way or 16-way parts 2. Type 16 way in the A Enter Search Phrase box.
Click B the Alternate Term checkbox to select it if
(using the Alternate Term option) it is not already selected, and then click C the Part
button.
When you type in a term for a keyword search, ECAT
searches for an exact match to that term. NOTE: The Alternate Term checkbox is automatically
selected by default.
For example, if you type the term 16 way, ECAT will only
search for the exact term 16 way and not for alternate
terms like 16-way or 16, way.

To also search for alternate spellings or groupings of

keywords, select the Alternate Term checkbox before
beginning the search.

information that might help you resolve a vibration
problem.

When viewing search results, notice that service shop
notes might be included in the BOM contents.

These notes provide valuable service information about

the part that might not be available anywhere else.
