Chile SEC Certification

Certification Introduction:

The Superintendencia de Electricidady Combustibles (SEC) of Chile is the national agency that formulates
regulations for electrical products in Chile. The Chilean national agency SEC (Superintendence of
Electricity and Combustible Fuels) adopts safety and energy efficiency regulations, and uses accredited
laboratories and certification bodies to control electrical, gasoline and fuel products entering the Chilean
market. Before products are sold to the Chilean market, they must pass one of the certification modes
(there are many certification modes, and the first, second, and sixth certification modes will be
introduced below) to obtain the accreditation certificate, SEC QR code and energy efficiency certificate.

Authentication Basic Information

• Is it mandatory: Mandatory

• Regulated Products: Home Appliances, Portable Heating Tools, Audio and Video, IT Equipment,
Lighting, Rotating Machines, Low Voltage Materials and Handheld Power Tools

• Factory Inspection: Varies by product

• Certificate validity period: Approval certificates have no validity period, but must be monitored
accordingly according to each certification system

• Local testing: varies by product

• Local Representative: Required

Applicable Product Range:

Chile implements compulsory certification for some household appliances, and the product range
covered by order No. 399 is detailed in the "List of Compulsory Certification of Electrical Products"
published on the website of the Electrical and Flammables Supervision Committee. About 100 products
are currently included in the "List of Compulsory Certification of Electrical Products". About 30 of them
should be tested using the Chilean standard. The rest of the products are tested and certified according
to IEC standards. In principle, the SEC directly adopts the IEC standard or the Chilean standard
equivalent to the IEC. Chile's safety standards for electrical products (Chilean NCh standards) are based
on IEC standards; certification systems for electronic products, such as consumer electronics,
telecommunication equipment and information technology equipment, are still under development.

• Household and Similar Electrical Appliances

• Electric Cables
• Portable Heating Tools and Similar Sppliances
• Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus
• Hand-held Motor-operated Electric Tools

Authentication Type:

The Chilean SEC has 6 schemes, and the following 3 schemes are suitable for China:

Certification Mode 1: Including Formal Test + Subsequent Evaluation of Each Shipment

Certification Mode 2: Including formal test + factory inspection + semi-annual product evaluation test +
semi-annual market spot check

Certification Mode 6: Recognition of foreign certification + supervision and testing of each batch of
goods
