Intelligence on the Society
INTRODUCTION
Artificial intelligence is when machines are capable of solving problems similarly to humans and
producing results. It is among the computer science subfields that are currently advancing. Focusing on
creating various aspects of human intelligence in machines is what is meant by the term "artificial
intelligence." These traits may be generated by using diverse data and smart algorithms that require
input. Fortunately, many categories of AI-enabled devices are currently all around us, including
computers, mobile phones, air conditioners, biosensors, video games, and more.
POSITIVE IMPACTS
AI can be used to make computers do amazing things, like driving a car or understanding human
speech. There are several potential impacts that AI could have on our society. One of these is that AI
could make it easier for us to communicate and interact with each other. This is because it can be used
to create chatbots that can help answer customer questions, make recommendations, and provide other
services online. Another impact that AI could have on our society is that it could make our lives more
convenient. This is because it can help automate many of our daily tasks and make it easier for us to get
the things we want or need. For example, artificial intelligence can be used to track our travel itineraries
and schedule appointments for us, so that we can free up our time to focus on other tasks instead. Other
positive capabilities of AI include, Digital assistant, Self-driving and parking cars, and Predictive
searches, etc (Nadikattu, 2016).
NEGATIVE IMPACTS
Artificial Intelligence is mostly used in industries such as telecommunications, aviation,
manufacturing, logistics, financial services, healthcare and agriculture. There are both positive (above
mentioned points) and negative impacts of AI on various sectors of society. However, there are
arguments on both sides of the fence regarding the impact of AI on society as a whole (Kumar, Singh,
Gulbir, Bhatanagar, & Jyoti, 2019).
Here are some of the cons of AI.
• Bias
Humans are the main creators of AI algorithms, and they can have built-in biases in them. If the
data that the AI algorithms are learning from is biased, they will produce biased and
discriminatory results.
• Loss of certain jobs
Despite the predicted increase in AI jobs, there will still be jobs that are lost as machines take
over.

• A shift in human experience.
The additional flexibility could initially appear like a utopia if AI takes over mundane chores and
enables humans to dramatically cut the amount of time they must spend at a job. Some people
and communities might find this simpler than others.
• Accelerated hacking
Artificial intelligence accelerates progress and surpasses our capacity for comprehension as
humans. Automation makes it more difficult for humans to detect horrible acts like phishing, the
injection of viruses into software, and the exploitation of AI systems for personal gain. For
instance, Chatbots can perform these duties much more quickly and efficiently than a person can,
which can potentially lead to greater customer satisfaction. However, there are also risks
associated with the use of chatbots because they can be hacked by malicious actors in order to
cause harm or steal personal information.
• AI Terrorism
There could be new AI-enabled forms of terrorism to contend with, such as the development of
autonomous drones and robotic swarms, remote assaults, or disease transmission by nanorobots.
There is also the potential that AI could be used for nefarious purposes, such as carrying out
cyberattacks or other criminal activities.
CONCLUSION
It has long been acknowledged that artificial intelligence (AI) has made people's lives steadily
more productive by powering numerous services and programs that assist individuals in doing daily tasks
there's no denying that AI has had a profound impact on how people live in society. It is necessary to
build AI algorithms that are in line with humanity's larger objectives. Although the use of AI is expanding
quickly and in many different fields, but we have to know that every coin has two sides. So as that we
have a control over AI; if we misuse it, there will be chaos. To achieve our goals, artificial intelligence
should be educated in a controlled setting using accurate and consistent data.
