Teacher Student

Now that we already know our learning objectives,

we can now proceed to our topic which is all about
Reporting across Disciplines.

But before anything else, I will show you a video.

Please watch carefully, observe, take note, and later
I will ask you a few questions about it.
Is that clear?

Yes, Ma’am.

“Mr. Indifferent” by Aryasb Feiz This is the link of

the video:https://youtu.be/qLGN
jxrgvY?si=bPDYYApnRUB
P9H

After watching the video, what was the story all

about?
April: It’s about a man who ignored everyone but
later started helping others.

Great observations! How do we know what Mr.

Indifferent was like at the beginning and how he
changed by the end?
Apple: His actions showed us, we notice it by
watching carefully.

Exactly, just like, when we write a report, we

observe and document actions, events, or facts to
inform others. Reports are like storytelling with
evidence.

Using previous knowledge does anyone of you have

any idea about what reports are? Yes, Rafols!

Rafols: When we said reports, it means that we

are providing an information or sharing knowledge
to our audiences.

Alright! Thank you, Rafols! How about the others?

Yes, Althea?
Althea: just like what Rafols have said, reports
provide past and current information on certain
topics and can also be expressed in various forms.

Thank you, Althea! Let’s see if what you all have

said is correct. Please read the definition of what
reports is.

Noah: Reports are a form of academic/ professional

writing that communicates information derived
from careful observation or data collection.

Okay, Thank you! Just like any forms of professional

or academic writing, reports also provide information
after conducting a careful observation.
For example, let’s imagine we are writing a report
about Mr. Indifferent’s behavior.

What could be the title of our report?

S: The transformation of Mr. Indifferent.

Very good, what would we include in the introduction

of this report?
S: We would describe who Mr. Indifferent is and
what the animation is all about

Exactly, and how about in the body?

S: We’d describe his actions in the beginning, like
how he ignored people, and then how he started
helping them later.

Perfect, what about the conclusion?

S: We could write about the lesson we learned from

his change, like the importance of kindness and
helping others.

Well done, so explaining a report is just like

explaining what happened step by step.
Okay, read the second bullet
Fidel: A report accurately and completely conveys
data that are focused on a specific issue or topic. It
consists of information from related readings, and
supporting data presented in tables or graphs.

Again what was our topic last meeting?

Data presentation and visualization

Very good, how about the lesson before that?

Data gathering, right?

Very good, so data collection and data gathering are

just parts of making reports.

A report serves as a structured document that

presents information on a specific issue or topic. Its
primary aim is to communicate findings , data is
often included in the form of tables, graphs, or
charts. These visual aids help to clarify complex
information, making it easier for readers to grasp
trends and patterns.

Is that clear?
Yes, Ma’am!

Let us now talk about the two important types of

reports. Please read the first type of report, Ion.

Ion: Formal Report is a complex account that uses

formal and structured language, and it is usually
applied in major projects and organizations.

Okay, thank you! Formal Reports are complex and

structured. We usually encounter this kind of
reports in companies, large organization, and major
projects.

(Write on the board)

Formal Reports= Structured, formal language,
Major Projects.
There are three ways where formal reports can be
use. Please read the first one.

Galido: formal report can be use as Informational

which simply presents facts or updates.

Okay, when we said informational report, it

conveys facts and details about a specific topic
without expressing opinions or arguments.
Example of this are attendance report and Financial
report.

Please read the second one, Martinez

Martinez: The second use of a formal report is

analytical which includes analysis and conclusions
based on data.

Thank you, Martinez! Analytical reportis a type of

report that goes beyond presenting data. It includes
analysis and interpretation. It purpose is to help
readers understand trends, solve problems, or make
informed decisions by examining information
critically.
Lashly: I think scientific research is one of the
example of analytical report since when we
are making a research we are analyzing certain
factors before providing a conclusions.

Very good, Lashly! That is a good example. How

about the last one? Yes, Otis!
Otis: The last use of formal report is
Recommendatory which gives suggestions
based on findings.

Thank you, Otis! From the word itself, recommend

means that this are reports that presents
suggestions based on results and conclusion, and its
main purpose is to guide decision making by
offering well- supported suggestions based on
research.
Did you understand the Three ways on how formal
Report can be use? Yes, Ma’am.

Okay, Let us now proceed to the informal reports.

Please read the definition, Manuel.
Manuel: Informal Report doesn’t have any
structured and communicates information using
free- flowing casual and short formats about
routines or everyday business.

(write on board)
Informal report= “Casual, Brief, Daily tasks”

Thank you, Manuel. Informal reports are simpler,

shorter, and use casual language.Unlike formal
reports, informal reports do not follow strict formats
and are often written in more conversational tone,
depending on the audience.. Is that clear?
Yes, Ma’am!

Did you now understand the difference between

formal And informal report?

Yes, Ma’am!

Okay, if you really understand our lesson, why

do you think formal reports are more structured
than informal ones? Yes, Ape!
Ape: I think it is because formal reports need to
be more detailed because it is for big projects

Very good. Thank you, Ape How about the others?

Any additional idea? Yes, Derige?

Derige: Maybe because the reports are intended

for higher level of people in a company.

Very good, Derige! All of your answers are correct.

Formal reports often go to top management or
clients, so they require through detail and
professionalism.
Is that clear?

Yes, Ma’am!

Are you sure? Do you have any questions

regarding our lesson, or anything that you want to
clarify?

None, Ma’am

Okay. Hearing none, let’s answers this few questions

about our topic.
