GRAMMAR - Relative clauses
Relative clauses (Mệnh đề quan hệ):
- Relative clauses can tell us more information about people and things.
- We use:
• who for people
• which for things
• that for people or things
• where for places
• when for time
• why for reason
- Relative clause appears right after the noun we want to modify.
Examples:
Lord Thompson, who is 76, has just retired.
This is the house which Jack built.
Marie Curie is the woman that discovered radium.
- In a relative clause, the relative pronoun can be the subject or object:
Examples:
(1) Subject (Vị trí chủ ngữ):
Marie Curie is the woman - Marie Curie discovered radium. → Marie is the woman WHO discovered radium.

This is the house - Jack built the house. → This is the house THAT Jack built.
