Praying for the Lost

 The will of God for humanity is salvation of all

John 3:16 (NKJV)
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

…not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

1 Timothy 2:3–4 (NKJV)

3
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Ezekiel 33:11 (NLT)

…I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from
their wicked ways so they can live.

 Jesus defeated Satan and made a way for us to be saved

1 John 3:8 (NKJV)
8
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this
purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the
devil.

Colossians 2:14–15 (NKJV)

14
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was
contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
15
Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them,
triumphing over them in it.

Hebrews 2:14 (NKJV)

14
Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself
likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the
power of death, that is, the devil,
15
and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
bondage.

Revelation 1:18 (NKJV)

18
I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I
have the keys of Hades and of Death.

 Authority of a believer to establish the will of God

Matthew 28:18–19 (NLT)
18
Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on
earth.
19
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations…

Matthew 18:18 (NKJV)

Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven* and
whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

* Three heavens
1 Atmosphere of earth – Satan lives here
2 Universal heaven – holds planets and stars
3 Paradise – where God dwells (3rd heaven)

John 14:13 (NKJV)

And whatever you ask* in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in
the Son.

* Literally translates ‘command’ – we do not command God or people – we

command evil spirits and circumstances)

1 John 5:14–15 (NLT)

14
..we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
15
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he
will give us what we ask for.

Ephesians 1:22 (NLT)

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all
things for the benefit of the church.

Luke 10:19 (NKJV)

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all
the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

James 4:7 (NKJV)

7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

 The condition of an unbeliever

 Their wills are bound but Jesus has overcome their captor, Satan. We can free
the will of people from the bondage of Satan in Jesus Name.

2 Timothy 2:26 (NKJV)

26
and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil,
having been taken captive by him to do his will.

Ephesians 2:2 (NLT)

2
You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the
commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the
hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

1 John 5:19 (NLT)

19
We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the
control of the evil one.

Luke 11:21–22 (NLT)

21
For when a strong man is fully armed and guards his palace, his possessions are
safe—
22
until someone even stronger attacks and overpowers him, strips him of his
weapons, and carries off his belongings.

 Their minds are blinded by the Devil but we pray for the veil to be lifted from
their understanding in Jesus Name.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT)

4
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t
believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t
understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of
God.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

14
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they
are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned.

Acts 26:18 (NKJV)

18
to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the
power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an
inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

 Intercession for the lost (prayer of three)

Father we have confidence in You that if we ask anything according to Your will, You
hear us and You grant us what we have asked of You. We pray in faith knowing that
all things are possible for those who believe (1 John 5:14-15, Mark 9:23).

Pray for each of the names of the three people you want to win to the Lord:

Father I pray that (name) will have an opportunity:

 to be drawn to Jesus by Your Spirit (John 6:44)

 to encounter You face to face (Jer. 29:13)
 to come to his/her senses and desire to be reconciled to You (Luke 15:18-30)
 to be restored from sin into salvation (Rom. 5:8)
 to bear the fruit of a disciple of Christ (John 15:8)
Father I pray that (name) eyes will open so that he/she may turn from darkness to
light and from the power of Satan to God, that he/she may receive forgiveness of
sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith (Acts 26:18).

I pray that You will help me pull him/her from the trap the enemy has set for
him/her (Ps 31:4).

I take authority over Satan. Satan, I command you to let (name) mind go in the Name
of Jesus. I bind you and I release his/her thinking to understand the gospel of Jesus
(2 Cor 4:4).

I loose (name) from the veil of darkness in Jesus Name and ask Lord that You will
enlighten his/her mind, releasing him/her from the power of fear of death and of the
devil (1 Cor 2:14; Hebr 2:14-15).

I pray dear Lord that I will be successful in my assignment as a soul-winner and

disciple-maker, a minister of reconciliation in Your kingdom. I thank you that when I
connect to (name) You will give me favour (Prov 3:4).

I thank You Father that You will give me a strategy uniquely designed by You for the
salvation of (name). I ask for Your wisdom, liberally, generously, given to me for this
purpose (Jam 1:5). Help me to hear from You and to do what You show me to do
(Jam 1:22).

I declare that I believe that (name) will be saved, healed, restored and ready to live
for You through committing his/her life to You. In Jesus Name. Amen.

 Praying in the Holy Spirit

John 14:16 (NKJV)
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide
with you forever.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall
be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the
earth.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV)

Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we
should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered.
