50th Year of Independence of Bangladesh

The 50th year of independence is going to be held on 26 March, 2021. 50 years

ago, on this day, Bangladesh was born out of a bloody war. In the face of a
brutal massacre by the Pakistani military, the freedom-loving people of this land,
with their unwavering resolve and monumental sacrifices, steered the course of
history of the Bengali nation towards a new beginning. Today marks the Golden
Jubilee of the Bangladesh revolution. As we celebrate this auspicious occasion,
we humbly remember and reflect on the valiant freedom fighters and all the men
and women who sacrificed so much to free us from the shackles of Pakistani
tyranny. We pay our deepest respects to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who led us in our struggle for freedom and all our
national leaders who laid the foundations of an independent nation. In the last 50
years, Bangladesh has achieved countless milestones in its development journey.
However, there are also shortcomings
Air Pollution
Air is life and one of the essential (<!l -'@-9f<mt) elements (
c-,c11.\;>j-'@-'1l•tli'PliQ_) of our environment. It is part and parcel of our existence
(<!I - ) and all other living beings. No living can live without air. But it is
being polluted now in many ways. Firstly, it is constantly being polluted by smoke
from mills, factories and from carbon-mono-oxide gases emitted by motor vehicles.
Secondly, big cities have thousands of cars, buses, and trucks plying all day long.
These vehicles bum (<Wt--c ) diesel and petrol oil which produce (-c - 9f1lfiq"
) a lot of smoke and pollute the air. Especially (Fr.rrffef- ), in the cities
and big industrial ( -111w1fia 1<1-f'w) areas, serious air pollution takes place.
Thirdly, overpopulation ( 91" - ) is another cause of air
pollution in our country. Fourthly, railway engines and powerhouses bum coal and
oil which produce smoke and air is polluted. So, it is high time to take proper steps
to plant trees everywhere and to control the haphazard (QJT -"C<f )
growth of industries. To make the air fresh, the destruction (C1!P@l<t>"R"-l:l'R."f)
of trees must be prevented ( l:l"). In fact, all possible steps should be
taken by all concerned ( - ) to stop air pollution.
Climate Change
Climate change is now the most unpredictable ( -<Im
). The earth's climate has changed over the last century ( - ).
There is stronger evidence (<!I - ) that most of the warming (-8mR
-'@<f3 ) observed the last 50 years is due to ( f- ) human
activities. Because of gas productions, temperatures ( -
f - ) rise over the 21st century. Its impact ( fi- )
will be severely (c>1R, 1 f.li- ) negative on both mankind and nature.
Human activities that contribute (<1>-1(Gf.1'@'r,_ )
climate change include in particular ( -fu>rr<r) the burning of fossil fuels
( - ), agriculture ( - ) and land-use changes like
deforestation ( mc>G"i-1- "f). These cause emissions( - ) of
carbon dioxide. It is the main gas which is responsible (wr --flm) for
climate change. And for this possibly ("Wf<TTjiPl&Fll) many catastrophic
(<t>Jl51>@
) changes will be inevitable ( -1 R,'r;Jl<1<4- )- The more the greenhouse
gases are emitted, the higher the tendency (W<1C1Sij_>1- ) will be for the earth to
warm. It will widespread (-8 -<ITT91"<!>) the melting of snow and ice. Serious
consequences (<t><1PIC<t>l@:>1>1- ) will be a rise in sea levels, which will
endanger (<!i"ij"CIS" --f.1"9frq ) coastal areas and small islands. Therefore, only
reducing emissions of greenhouse gases should reduce the risk of the adverse
 ( JIIS l>i- ) effects .Many options for emission reduction ( ) are
available ( Jl l Jl<1<4- ). But the whole world needs to be concerned to
remove this fatal (<i>JTTT<'Pffi!I ) threat ( - ).
Drug Addiction

Drug addiction means taking opium, marijuana, phensedyl, heroin, yaba etc.
for stimulating effects (@C-8iSfi11<1> .2lRiifu, 1 ). Drug addiction is a curse
of modem civilization (PIRi<41':;:ciS!"i"Pf ). It is now a global problem.
Frustration ( - ) is the cause of this addiction. When there is no
hope left for the young people, they become addicted to drug. The drugs are very
expensive (<.Q<J?!C - ). Young boys cannot afford ( -ffl
mto)buy them. In order to arrange money, they have to commit (
<!>ill) many kinds of social crimes. Drug addiction has a terrible ( - )
effect on human body. People feel drowsy ( - )and lose
appetite ( - l:!T). It may damage the brain and all internal functions of
the body. The addicts feel intensive pain ('P;:-1w-1Pt c - <U'<IT) in the body.
The treatment (fia\,- -ffl j[f) of the drug addicts is expensive and difficult. In
Bangladesh, the drug addiction problem has become so acute that thousands of
families are directly or indirectly affected by it. The remedy ( - •m) for
drug addiction is not so easy. All concerned ( - ) must create
awareness ( ->fCbl:l-11:ll) at personal and family levels. When all

Facebook
in the modem global world Facebook has been part and parcel of our life. It is an
ultra ( -*) modem electronic device which is used for giving a lot of services
to the people all over the world. Though it is a very powerful device, it cannot work
itself. We are to make it active and then it can give us service. Without it we cannot
pass a single day. The invention ( - )of it has a long history. It was not
invented overnight ('8 l'i1'11 -'i111:ll'i11Rl). It took long time and hard labour to
invent this valuable device. This device consists of some important components (
91Wf{,-'@-9ff-1R). Except (<!! - ) one of the components, it cannot work
properly. Facebook is of great use to us. It renders ( - )g r e a t service
to mankind. It is like Aladdin's magic lamp. It has lessened( - ) our
boredom( mfu,) providing a lot of facilities and enjoyment. It has made our life
easy and comfortable. Once this device was found only in the house of the rich but
now the price of it or the cost of its use has decreased a lot. So, it is becoming an
ordinary ( ) device in our day to day life. But it is a
matter ofregret ( -
11:g ) that some of our rural illiterate people still cannot use it or dare not use it.
When we'll be able to ensure its use for everyone, we can then demand our personal,
social, economic as well as cultural progress. So, we can say that Facebook plays a
vital role in our modem life.
Food Adulteration
Food adulteration (<61JI\Sl"'1(.!a"i-'1"- ) means ( - ) mixing low standard ( - ) food or
harmful ( - ) chemicals with different food items. Every living being( - ) needs food
to live. But adulterated (<61JI\Sl"'11'lm\, -c ierl"'1 13') food is very harmful for health ( - ). Health
is wealth but this wealth is lost when people eat adulterated foods. People may encounter (<!1'1<t>ll£.\;1-
s1- m) even death eating adulterated food. There are some causes behind ( --c ) food
adulteration. Firstly, the dishonest businessmen (MierC'1>!C '1- ) are mainly responsible for food
adulteration. They adulterate (<61JI\Sl"'11'IC'S11'- Clrnf) their foods for quick( ) profit (-c - )-
They mix chemicals so that their goods last ( -"ITT<!> '<ll"C<f>) for a long time. Secondly, the law enforcing
(<!l -<11 <11{1'1<t>lm) committee ( - ) is not active to check the foods. Thirdly, corruption
(<t>m'>f"fif- ) has made the administration (<!liS M>irJa"i-'1"- T>i•O blind ( -'5f<fi} Fourthly,
humans are not aware (<!1'8ffl- ·O of selecting good foods. The common people compete
(ff9f1,"- ) to buy the cheap ("6T9f- f) rated goods. Adulterated foods are very harmful for human
health. Regular taking of adulterated foods becomes a cause of great danger for the people. Adulterated food
may lead one to death. Everybody should avoid (<61JIC IC{I\S-<!I Di'!T) adulterated foods and take proper
steps to stop food adulteration
