Chevening is on the lookout for individuals who will be future leaders or influencers in

their home countries. I'll explain how you meet this requirement by highlighting clear
examples of my own leadership and influencing skills. My journey as a leader has been
shaped by my immersion in diverse environments and my willingness to step outside of
my comfort zone. Growing up in a small village with its unique dialect, I developed an
early curiosity about the world beyond my familiar surroundings. This desire to explore
different perspectives led me to live in the Czech Republic for nearly six months as an
Erasmus exchange student while completing my bachelor's degree at home. Living in
Europe was a transformative experience that introduced me to new academic
frameworks and exposed me to various cultures and ways of thinking. I also spent six
years working in Amman, Jordan, which deepened my global perspective and showed
me how different lifestyles can be. These international experiences significantly
expanded my worldview by allowing me to absorb new ideas and challenge my
previously held assumptions. In addition to professional experiences, I have actively
demonstrated leadership and influence in my personal life. For instance, I've financially
supported my siblings' pursuit of higher education because I believe in the
transformative power of learning. Education is a tool not just for individual growth but
also for societal progress, and I'm dedicated to helping those around me access
opportunities that can improve their futures. Furthermore, I have engaged in cultural
exchange initiatives by participating in language exchange meetings with tourists and
expatriates in Amman. These interactions allowed me to introduce them to the local
culture and traditions while building bridges of understanding between different
communities. On multiple occasions, I've even invited guests to stay in my village,
offering them a firsthand experience of rural life while fostering mutual cultural
appreciation. These experiences align perfectly with Chevening's goals for future leaders
or influencers, showcasing my ability to demonstrate leadership and influence both
personally and professionally. Aspiring to empower future leaders and influencers, I
highlight my ability to motivate and positively impact diverse cultural contexts. My
experiences abroad, community engagement, and education-focused endeavors
demonstrate my capacity to lead by example and inspire others. A Chevening
Scholarship would enable me to build on this foundation, refining my skills and pursuing
passions for language, technology, and education. I am confident that with the support
of Chevening, I can leverage my experiences to create lasting positive change in my
community and beyond. With a unique blend of cross-cultural experiences, professional
skills, and commitment to education and social improvement, I believe I can contribute
meaningfully to the Chevening network and inspire others. A background in psychology
drives my enthusiasm for applying to the MA in Interpreting and Translation program in
the UK, focusing on Spanish-English-French language paths. I would appreciate feedback
on my leadership essay and other submissions. I firmly believe that leadership is a
multifaceted concept, varying significantly from one person to another. Notably, I have
showcased my unique leadership experiences, particularly during my tenure at Navistar
International. As the first psychologist hired, I developed a comprehensive mental
health program focused on stress inoculation, addressing employee well-being and
providing psychological assistance services. This initiative was successfully incorporated
into the company's annual medical care campaigns. Additionally, I demonstrated
leadership while overseeing a university project in 2017, creating a health initiative for a
vulnerable community in my hometown of Victoria. I'd like to share with you my
experience working on a project that aimed to develop essential life skills among our
community members. My classmates and I worked together to create a project
structure, which involved problem-solving, effective communication within families, and
providing information about government healthcare services. The team consisted of
Carlos and Patricia, with whom we carefully reviewed the project plan and secured
sponsorships. After presenting it to a panel of judges, we were thrilled to receive first
prize, and as recognition, each of us received an extra point on our semester grades. The
project's success also led to its implementation in our community, benefiting nearly 70
people. I'm proud to say that my article was published in the psychology journal
'Psychology and Health' from Universidad Veracruzana. This achievement is a testament
to my commitment to contributing to science, which involved researching suitable
journals and receiving valuable support from Miss Báez and Miss Torres. As someone
who values observation, empathy, and understanding people's needs, I excel in
designing projects that promote well-being, community engagement, and effective
communication. With a passion for languages and an MA in Interpreting and
Translation, I'm eager to leverage these strengths to make a positive impact in the
linguistic field. In today's social media era, influence is becoming increasingly important
for success. As seen in former President Barack Obama's successful campaign, which
heavily relied on social media, having influence is crucial for leadership. Building my
influence has been a key goal of mine, leading me to take on various leadership roles in
school, work, and community. In high school, I held two significant positions: Head Girl
and Netball Captain at Kereri Girls High School. As Head Girl, I was the leader of all
prefects and had to wisely use my influence to guide them towards making responsible
decisions. As Netball Captain, I inspired teammates to excel in national and provincial
competitions. At university, I led a project group, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
Professionally, I've consistently exercised leadership as Branch Operations Supervisor at
NIC Bank, guiding staff and receiving recognition for my efforts. Currently, I chair the NIC
Securities Limited Welfare Committee and mentor young people through various
programs. As a community leader, I support disadvantaged families and provide
financial assistance. My understanding of leadership stems from my Jordanian-
Palestinian upbringing. External forces drove my family's migration, teaching me about
resilience and adaptability. My humanitarian work with the UN has further honed my
leadership skills, allowing me to empower crisis-affected communities through
economic development. In Turkey, I managed a pilot project for economic recovery in
northern Syria, demonstrating effective management and flexibility. Clear
communication and motivation are key to strong leadership. By empowering others and
providing feedback, I've seen projects thrive. Additionally, I've initiated change in the
workplace by fostering open communication and coordination. Local staff at UN were
struggling due to high inflation which rose by 40%, making it difficult for them to
support themselves. I organized discussions with colleagues about writing a letter to
management requesting changes in our salaries and highlighting our needs. Many local
staff members agreed to sign the letter, leading to a meeting with senior management
that later resulted in establishing the Staff Association Committee, where I was elected
as the leader. The Chevening scholarship will enable me to gain an education that is
crucial for creating social change and economic recovery, not only at the community
level but also through policy implementation. This is particularly necessary considering
the Syrian Refugee crisis and the Middle East situation. In my hometown of Sucre, I took
a stand against limited access to clean water by spearheading a groundbreaking project
focused on groundwater research. I secured funding from ELAPAS and collaborated with
key stakeholders across neighborhoods. My leadership role included initiating research,
collecting samples, and actualizing purification units, ultimately resulting in 70 families
gaining access to safe drinking water. As the leader of hydraulics and hydrology-related
activities at the Scientific Society of Civil Engineers Univalle-Sucre, I transitioned our
efforts to virtual platforms during the pandemic. We highlighted critical issues like
sustainable water management and the importance of women in the water sector. My
proactive involvement led me to co-author a scientific article published in a renowned
Costa Rican journal. Additionally, my role at ABIS Chuquisaca included orchestrating the
"1st Water Fair", providing a platform for 17 companies to showcase their expertise in
the water sector. This event garnered significant attention from students, professionals,
and the public alike. I was also part of the elite group recognized during the association's
founding act. While my GPA may not be exceptionally high, my leadership trajectory
demonstrates my ability to inspire others. I'm committed to setting ambitious goals and
overcoming obstacles with unwavering resolve. I strongly believe that my leadership
skills and ability to inspire change make me a strong contender for the Chevening
scholarship. My goal is straightforward: to utilize this chance to drive progress in my
country, improve living conditions, and promote environmentally friendly water
management practices

I have many accomplishments during my work experience as district coordinator. i
