Ladies and gentlemen of the Jury, my name is Arthur Kirkman, and I'm the defense counsel for the

defendant - Judge Henry D Fleming.

Now the prosecuting attorney is a happy man today. He is a happy man today because today, He is
going after a judge.

And if he gets him, if he gets him, he's going to be a star. The Lawyer of the Month.

But to win this case, he needs you. Because believe me, you are all he's got.

Now he's counting on tapping that emotion in you that says, "Let's arrest someone in power, let's arrest
a judge".

However, these proceedings are here to see that justice is done. And justice, as any reasonable person
would tell you, is the finding of the truth.

There exists one truth, a tragic one. That girl has been beaten and murdered.

Another truth - the prosecution, doesn't have a witness.

Not one piece of substantiating evidence, other than the testimony of the victim herself.

Your honour, let's get back to Justice.

What is justice? What is the intention of justice?

The intention of justice is to see that the guilty people have proven guilty, and the innocent are free.
Only, it's not that simple.

Both sides want to win. We want to win. We want to win regardless of what the truth is. We want to win
regardless of who is guilty or innocent because winning is everything.

That man there. That man there wants to win so badly today, it means so much to him, the very
prospect, the idea - that he forgot something.

He forgot his case. He forgot his case! I mean, I don't know? Have you seen one? Do you? Neither a
witness nor one piece of substantiating evidence. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a case to end
all cases. I have witnesses for my client, character references, testimonials that are backed up from here
to Washington DC. But there was this one thing. There was this one thing that kept bothering me. This
one thing that I couldn't stop thinking of, is why?

Why would the victim lie? What was her motive? If my plan is innocent, she was lying?

Why? Was it jealousy? No. Was it blackmail? No. Yesterday, I found out why. She doesn't have a motive.
Because she is not lying. And the prosecution is not going to get that man for it today. Because I'm going
to get him. The person I'm defending today, the honourable Judge Henry D. Fleming, should go right to
the god damn jail because that man is guilty! That sick, crazy, depraved, son of a bitch, beat up that
woman and he'd like to do it again!

"Arthur, let's make a deal". You want to make a bloody deal? You were supposed to stand for
something. You were supposed to protect people.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury - if this man is allowed to walk free today, something really wrong is
going on here.
