Recruitment of Tutors

The Durban University of Technology Writing Centre would like

to recruit tutors for the 2025 academic year. In face-to-face
and online consultations, writing centre tutors will be expected
to support students and staff with academic, professional and
personal writing.

Required personal attributes and experience

 Passion for writing and strong writing skills
 Understanding of the writing process
 Effective interpersonal communication skills
 Ability and willingness to work with students from diverse
cultural backgrounds and levels of academic preparedness

Prerequisites
 Registered Masters or PhD student
 Teaching or tutoring experience
 Basic computer familiarity and willingness to learn

In your application letter, you are required to declare any other

engagements you might have in 2025. We expect honesty from
candidates in this respect as declarations are important to us to
assess availability and commitment to the Writing Centre, as
our functions are very dependent on these two aspects. Any
false disclosure will be treated as misconduct, and the Centre
will not hesitate to take measures against any person found to
have made a false declaration.

If you meet the above requirements, send an application letter

and detailed curriculum vitae of not more than three (3) pages
to shahiedak@dut.ac.za on or before the 20th of January 2025.
Should you need any clarification, call (031) 373 6735.
