BSN 1–FLEVORIUM

Exercise 1
Draw an object or picture that would symbolize your idea or concept of Positive and Negative Peace.
Explain in 3 sentences why you chose such representation.

I chose this representation of the yin-yang symbol, with the brain in the white half and the heart in the
black, because it perfectly encapsulates my understanding of positive and negative peace. The brain,
often associated with logic and strategy, represents the active, conscious efforts towards building a just
and equitable society. This is what we consider positive peace – the active pursuit of a world free from
systemic injustices and inequalities. On the other hand, the heart, symbolizing emotion and compassion,
represents the absence of violence, a necessary foundation for positive peace to flourish. This is negative
peace – the state of non-violence that provides the space for understanding, empathy, and healing to take
root.
