• The terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament occurred on December 13, 2001, when

• Infosys is the only Indian company to make it into the top 100 rankings of TIME

• Arindam Bagchi, currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External

• IndiGo has become the official airline for the Indian football team. The partnership
was announced on September 15, 2023, and will be in place for one year. Under the
partnership, IndiGo will provide the Indian football team with travel services for all
domestic and international matches. The airline will also provide the team with
access to its lounges and other facilities.
• The Malayalam movie "2018: Everyone is a Hero" was directed by Jude Anthany
Joseph and has been selected as India's official entry at the Academy Awards in 2024
for its portrayal of the Kerala floods and climate change issues.

• Israel unveiled its cutting-edge main battle tank, the Merkava Mark 5, known as "Barak,"

42nd site.
• Ferrari's Carlos Sainz won the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, ending Max
Verstappen's record run of 10 wins in a row and shattering Red Bull's dream of going
through the season unbeaten. Sainz led from pole position to start the race, and he was
never headed. He drove a flawless race to secure his second Formula 1 victory, and his
first since the 2022 British Grand Prix.
• Indian Oil is the title sponsor of the first-ever MotoGP race in India, MotoGP Bharat. The
race will be held at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida from September 22
to 24, 2023.
• Exxon Mobil has appointed Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan as the brand ambassador for
its lubrication brand, Mobil™.
• Rajnish Kumar, the former Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), has been

• Airbus delivered the first C-295 transport aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) on
September 13, 2023. The IAF has ordered a total of 56 C-295 aircraft, of which 16 will be
delivered in flyaway condition from Spain and the remaining 40 will be manufactured
and assembled in India by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). The first Indian-made
C-295 is expected to roll out of the TASL facility in Vadodara in September 2026.
• 'Project Abhinandan' by Air India is aimed at providing passengers with a personalized
and hassle-free experience, particularly in managing baggage issues and dealing with
missed flights.
• The board of directors of Tata Steel has approved the reappointment of T V Narendran
as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of the company for a
further period of five years, effective September 19, 2023. Narendran, who is currently
the longest-serving MD & CEO of Tata Steel, has been at the helm of the company since
January 31, 2024
2017. He has overseen a period of significant growth and transformation for the
company, including the acquisition of Bhushan Steel and JSW Steel.
• India achieved the 30th position in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report rankings, with an
impressive overall score of 40.8. This was an improvement from the 31st position it held
in the 2022 rankings.
• ITI has created a line of laptops and Micro PCs called SMAASH, which meet international
quality standards. ITI is a leading telecom company and has made significant inroads into
the technology market with its SMAASH products. These products are competing
successfully against well-established MNC brands like Acer, HP, Dell, and Lenovo.
• Renowned political cartoonist Ajit Ninan passed away on Friday at the age of 68. He was
best known for his work in India Today and the Times of India. His cartoons were known
for their wit and satire, and he was a fearless critic of the establishment.
• Indian actress Anushka Sharma has been appointed as the brand ambassador of
women's fashion brand W. The announcement was made on September 6, 2023, ahead
of the festive season in India. W is a premium women's clothing brand that offers a wide
range of apparel, accessories, and footwear. The brand is known for its stylish and
contemporary designs that appeal to the modern Indian woman.
• Amul has been named as the official sponsor of the Indian Contingent for the 19th Asian
Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China. Amul is a dairy cooperative in India. It is the largest
food brand in India. Amul has been associated with Indian sportspersons since the
London 2012 Olympics. The company has partnered with the Indian Olympic Association
to sponsor all Indian contingents to the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian
Games.
• The country's first solar city was inaugurated in Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh on September
7, 2023. The city will be powered by solar energy and will have several features that
make it sustainable, such as electric vehicles, rainwater harvesting, and waste
management systems. The project is being implemented by the Solar Energy
Corporation of India (SECI) and the Madhya Pradesh government. It is expected to cost
around Rs 1,000 crore and will be completed in three phases.

• The government of India appointed Jaya Verma Sinha as the first woman Chairperson of
the Railway Board on August 31, 2023. Ms. Sinha is a 1988-batch Indian Railway Traffic
Service (IRTS) officer. She has held several key positions in the railways, including
Member (Operations and Business Development) and Principal Chief Commercial
Manager. She is known for her expertise in railway operations and her commitment to
customer service.
• The Argentina footballer Lionel Messi has been awarded the 2023 Ballon d'Or (winning
it for the 8th time in his career).
• The Dhordo village in Gujarat's Kutch district has been declared the Best Tourism Village

• The rank of India in Global Hunger Index 2023 published by Concern Worldwide and

• World Health Summit 2023 held from 15 to 17 October 2023 with the theme A Defining

• The operation Ajay was launched by India to evacuate Indians from Israel due to the

• Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd (TPEVCSL) has partnered with Indian Oil

• The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan
from November 11th to 24th, 2024, following a breakthrough resolution in the ongoing
conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
• India secured an impressive 7th place in the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI)
during COP-28 in Dubai, highlighting its excellence in renewable energy and low
greenhouse gas emissions. This accomplishment reinforces India's consistent standing as
a top performer for the fifth consecutive year.
• India slipped to the fourth position in the global ranking of startup funding in 2023,
experiencing a significant downturn with only $7 billion in total funding, after holding
the third spot in both 2021 and 2022.
• The primary focus of COP28 is the implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in
2015. This agreement aims to limit global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius,
preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. Discussions will
revolve around assessing progress towards achieving these goals, reviewing national
climate action plans, and enhancing ambition for future commitments.
• India surpassed New Zealand with its 59th win to become the second-most successful
team in the ODI World Cups, only behind Australia.

• The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has published its Annual Report on “Road
Accidents in India-2022.”
A total of 4,61,312 road accidents occurred in 2022, which claimed 1,68,491 lives, while
4,43,366 people were injured. Tamil Nadu recorded the highest number of road
accidents on National Highways in 2022, followed by Madhya Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh
recorded the highest number of persons killed in road accidents.
• IndiaFirst Life Insurance Company Ltd (IndiaFirst Life), one of the private life insurers of
the country, became the first Indian life insurance company to get the Gujarat
International Finance Tec (GIFT) City’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC)
Registration.
• The International Organization for Migration (IOM) held a conference called the Legal
Identity and Rights-Based Return Management Conference at the UN City in
Copenhagen, Denmark.

billion people do not possess a legal identity, as reported by the United Nations’ IOM,

• Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the ‘Bharat Organics’ brand of the newly
launched National Cooperative Organics Ltd (NCOL).
It will have as many as 20 products in the market by December 2023. NCOL will pass on
50 per cent of its profit earned over the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of any crop
directly into the bank account of the farmers, while the rest will be used for the growth
of the organization.
• International Convention on Millets was recently organized in Bhubaneswar. The
purpose of the convention is to devise a worldwide strategy for millets, with Odisha
leading the initiative.
• Socialist leader Pedro Sánchez was re-elected as Spain’s prime minister in a
parliamentary vote, winning another term in office.
• During its 63rd council meeting, the International Sugar Organisation (ISO), based in
London, declared India as the Chair of the organization for the year 2024.
• Irish author Paul Lynch received this year’s Booker Prize for his dystopian novel ‘Prophet
Song’ at a ceremony at Old Billingsgate.
• The Reserve Bank of India increased the UPI payment limits specifically for healthcare
and education sectors from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, as announced during the Monetary
Policy Committee (MPC) announcement by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
• Meghalaya's Lakadong turmeric, known for its exceptional quality, has recently been
granted the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, as announced by Agriculture Minister

3) PM Suraksha Bima Yojana

The risk coverage: Rs. 2 lakh for accidental death and full disability and Rs. 1 lakh for partial
disability.
4) The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
Account can be opened in the name of a girl child, by her parents or legal guardians, any
time before the girl child attains 10 years of age. Only one account per girl child is allowed.
Amount deposited in Sukanya Samriddhi Account is tax free.
The scheme is meant to meet the education and marriage expenses of a girl child.
Minimum payment per year: Rs. 250 to account to keep it active.
