OF DENMARK AGENDA: DELIBERATION ON THE SITUATION IN THE TAIWAN STRAIT INTRODUCTION
Russia remains committed to the "One China Policy" and does not officially recognize Taiwan as an
independent state. However, Denmark government balances relations with both Taiwan and China.
While Denmark allows Danish politicians to visit Taiwan, it emphasizes that such visits must be for
"serious and factual" reasons to avoid provoking China. Denmark has been cautious in criticizing
China due to potential economic retaliation, but there is growing consensus among Danish officials
that China's actions toward Taiwan are unjustifiable. IMPORTANT POINTS AT ISSUE Trade and
business relations between Denmark and Taiwan have flourished over the past decades, with
bilateral trade exceeding US˚ 1 Billion in 2022. Moreover, the IndoPacific region is a main artery for
global trade, and as a maritime nation, Denmark has a clear interest in ensuring the freedom of
navigation. Denmark maintains a significant economic presence in Taiwan, facilitated by the Trade Co
