Health and Safety Bulletin Board

□ The board is clean and legible.


□ All legislatively required content is available.
□ The posted material is current.

Floors

□ No loose material, debris, or worn carpet.


□ No standing water or wet floors without warning signage.
□ Passageways and work areas are clear of obstructions.
□ Cords across walkways are covered or secured.
□ No other tripping hazards exist.

Elevators, Stairways, Aisles, Ramps, and Docks

□ Areas are clear and unblocked.


□ Areas are well lit.
□ Handrails and handholds are secured and not loose.
□ Areas are marked and clearly visible.
□ Any mechanical components are in good working order.

Equipment and Workstations

□ All furniture is in good condition and free of sharp edges or trip hazards.
□ All chairs and workstations are adjusted to a good ergonomic working position.
□ Workstations are arranged in a way to prevent unnecessary reaching.
□ Everyone has enough room to work; no areas are crowded.
□ All ladders are safe for use and well-maintained.
□ No equipment is leaking, broken, dirty, or in need of any maintenance.
□ All safeguards are in good condition and protect from the hazards they are
intended to.

Emergency Equipment

□ All fire equipment is sufficient and appropriate for the workplace.


□ All fire control equipment is tested and in good working condition.
□ All emergency lighting is tested and in good working condition.
□ All emergency exits are clearly marked and accessible.
□ All eye wash stations and emergency showers are tested and operational.

Hazardous Substances/Materials

□ All WHMIS hazardous products are safely stored.


□ All WHMIS hazardous products are properly labelled.
□ There is a safety data sheet for each WHMIS hazardous product.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

□ All PPE is properly stored.


□ All required PPE is adequate for the associated work.
□ Provided PPE is clean, well-maintained, and in good condition.

Sanitation and the Working Environment

□ Washrooms and food preparation areas are clean.


□ The following are in good working condition:
o Toilets.
o Sinks.
o Lunchrooms (including appliances); and
o Trash receptacles.
□ Measures are in place to prevent the spread of disease.
□ The workplace is free of dust, fumes, or other airborne hazards.
□ Ventilation and climate control systems are working properly.
□ There are no risks related to noise exposure.

Security, Emergency, and First Aid

□ Emergency procedures are in place and posted (Evacuation, fire, bomb, hostile
individuals).
□ All security measures, such as cameras and alarms, are in good working
condition.
□ Emergency telephone numbers are clearly posted.
□ First aid kits are adequately stocked and easily accessible.
□ Evacuation routes are clearly posted and free of obstruction.

Lighting

□ No light bulbs are burnt out or missing.


□ No areas are too dark to safely perform work.
□ All lightbulbs are sufficient for their application and safely wired.

General
□ Extension cords are not used where equipment should be hardwired.
□ Wall and ceiling fixtures are safely fastened.
□ All waste is properly disposed of.
□ All drawers are closed when not in use.
□ Materials are only stacked to a safe height.
□ Materials, inventory, consumables, and so on are safely and neatly stocked.
□ There is equipment or tools available to safely retrieve materials on higher
shelves.
□ Storage shelves and file cabinets are not overloaded.
□ Large and heavy objects are stored on lower shelves or drawers.
□ All doors and windows are in good working order.
□ All guardrails are in good condition.
□ All warning signs are clean and legible.
