(c) whether these National Law Universities and other Universities that have
been consulted on this proposal have sufficient library and educational resources
in regional languages and faculty with proficiency to teach law subjects in
regionallanguages and if so, the details thereof?

ANSWER
MINISTER OF LAW & JUSTICE
(SHRI KIREN RIJIJU)
(a) No such consultation with Vice-Chancellors of National Law Universities
has been carried out by this Department.

(b) National and International Law Firms recruit law graduates of National
Law Universities (NLUs) on the basis of merits and marks and follow
their own criteria/standards for recruiting of law graduates and the
Government has no role in such recruitment.

(c) NLUs are creation of State Legislations and enjoy considerable autonomy
in the matters of administration and recruitment of faculty members. The
Central Government has no role in such matters. Similarly, proficiency of
faculties in regional languages for imparting legal education and
enrichment of library of NLUs with regional language resources are
matters mainly concerned with respective NLUs and not the Central
Government.
