MRI LEFT KNEE

STUDY PROTOCOL

MR imaging of the left knee was performed on a MAGNETOM Verio 3 Tesla scanner using a dedicated 32-
channel phased-array surface coil. Multiple sequences were obtained.

FINDINGS

 There is non-visualisation of due to posterior horn of medial meniscus suggestive of tear. Extrusion of
body of medial meniscus is seen medially with small parameniscal fluid collection.

 Articular cartilage over medial femoral condyle and medial tibial plateau appears decreased in
thickness.

 Mild hyperintense signal is seen in ACL ? sprain.

 Mild knee joint effusion is seen with extension into suprapatellar bursa.

 Mild free fluid is seen in the prepatellar bursa ? prepatellar bursitis.

 Mild free fluid is seen underlying the medial head of gastrocnemius.

 Alignment of femur & tibia as well as position of patella are intact.

 Lateral menisci are normal in size, contour and signal intensity.

 Posterior cruciate ligaments are normal in course, attachments and reveals normal parenchymal signal
intensity

 Medial collateral and lateral collateral ligaments are normal with no evidence of tear.

 Ilio-tibial tract is normal in thickness & signal intensity.

 The visualized bones show normal morphology and marrow signal intensity.
