This unit allows the learners to expand their basic knowledge of the multi-faceted nature of farming
to encourage capacity building for self-reliance.

By the end of the unit, learners will have a better understanding of the role of agriculture in society
and how they can contribute by becoming a professional farmer.

At the end of this unit, learners will have a better understanding of the production of plant
biological needs, vegetable production, crop pests and the concept of food security. The unit will
also cover land resource management and the role of agronomy in the field.
