Assessment 8

Instruction: Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.

1. Define photography in your own words.

ANSWER: Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images
by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by
means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film

2. What are the three basic types of Photography?

ANSWER: Landscape, Portrait, Documentary

3. Explain the photographic triangle.

ANSWER: The photographic triangle, also known as the exposure triangle, is a model
that explains how the three camera settings of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work
together to control the amount of light that reaches the camera's sensor
4. Explain the difference between Underexposure and Overexposure.

ANSWER: Underexposure and overexposure are two opposing concepts in

photography. Underexposure occurs when there's not enough light, the image is too
dark and details in the shadows are lost. Whites may look muddy or gray, and the
shadows may be pitch black. Overexposure happens when there's too much light, the
image is too bright and details in the highlights are lost. Highlights may appear washed
out or white, and blacks may look gray.

5. Take a picture of any style of photography you want and explain the meaning of that
picture.

Lake Mainit is one of the the deepest and

largest lakes in the country. In fact, it ranks
as the fourth largest lake in the Philippines.
It has an area of 173.40 square kilometers.
It has a maximum depth of about 223
meters and an elevation of 37 meters above
sea level. It is one of the natural ecosystems
in the region that possesses a great
potential to compete with other more
famous natural wonders. Lake Mainit's
aquatic resources are highly diverse; it is a
home of different fish species – the main
source of livelihood of the townspeople.
Tilapia is very common in the lake.
6. Define and explain Aperture.

ANSWER: Aperture is the adjustable opening in a camera lens that controls the amount
of light that enters the camera and hits the image sensor.

7. Define and explain Shutter Speed.

ANSWER: Shutter speed is the length of time a camera's shutter remains open,
allowing light to reach the camera's sensor and create an image. It's also known as
exposure time.

8. Define and explain ISO/Film Speed.

ANSWER: ISO is a number that indicates a film's sensitivity to light. A higher ISO
number means the film is more sensitive to light. ISO is an important part of taking
accurate photos, and it's also a creative choice because different film speeds can give
your photos a different look.

9. Take a portrait photo of yourself and perform simple post processing using that
picture. (Note: Take a screenshot on the step-by-step process of your post processing)

BEFORE: AFTER:
MY POST PROCESSING STEPS

Step 1: Brightness +30 Step 2: Contrast +10

Step 3: Saturation +50 Step 4: Highlight -10
