Student Assessment Question/Activity 3-1
Can you give an example of an ecosystem that you are mostly
familiar with especially of its components? Try to enumerate
the living and non-living components. Try also to pick at least 2
living and 2 non-living components and discuss their
connections. Discuss how and what happens if the ecosystem is
disturbed by human activities.
(Email your answer.)
An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals,
and other organisms, as well as weather and landscape, work
together to form a bubble of life. Ecosystems contain biotic or living,
parts, as well as abiotic factors, or nonliving parts. Biotic
factors include plants, animals, and other organisms. Abiotic
factors include rocks, temperature, and humidity. As we can see in
the figure factory emiision is one of the center piece, the chane in
tempareture is a vital one. There are some organism that will only
adapt at a ceratin temperature. Waste and dead parts are essential
for enriching the soil. Living organsim plays their role in order to
maintain the balance in the nature.
Student Assessment Question/Activity 3-2
With all the facts above about ecosystems, can you
consider an aquarium an ecosystem? Discuss your answer
below.
(Email your answer.)
Yes it can be considered as a close ecosystem, first they rely
on non living thing like air and other minerals especially if it’s a big
aquarium. They also affect each other. They can find a habitat both
fish and plant in order for them to grow. Third, they also adapt in the
changes when more fish is added or minerals and water had
changed. Interactions, both internally and externally, occur and develop
between the biocenosis and the biotope, and it is these interactions
which define the ecosystem. To vonclude there is an ecosytem
althought it’s close the basic characteristics of an ecosystem is
found.

Learning Assessment (Email your answer.)
Instructions: Please answer the following items. This will be part
of your performance evaluation. Each item is 10 points.
1. Why is it important to conserve and protect ecosystems in
relation to sustaining life?
a. Sustained life is a characteristic of ecosystems.
b. Ecosystems contain resources that we need.
c. In ecosystems living and nonliving things can be found.
d. In ecosystems energy flow and nutrient cycles.
Justify your answer: Healthy ecosystems clean our water, purify our
air, maintain our soil, regulate the climate, recycle nutrients and provide
us with food. They provide raw materials and resources for medicines
and other purposes. They are at the foundation of all civilisation and
sustain our economies.
2. Earth and its ecosystems are complex entities in which any
action may have several or many effects. What does this
statement tell us?
i. Everything affects everything else.
ii. Many aspects of the natural environment are closely linked.
iii. Everything changes.
iv. Nature knows how to balance itself.
a. ii and iii c.. iii and iv
b. i and iii d. i and ii
Justify your answer: the ecosystem is diverse it allows the changes in
the community and every organism plays a vital role that are very
close to rach one.
Feedback
Please include your feedback below. Let me know how you are doing so far.
Include your difficulties (if there are any) so we can address it on the
succeeding modules
This module was terrific, I’m not a fan of reading long texts but in this
module it has been summarixe and easier to comprehend. The module talks
about the linked and how every organism plays in the community. In this
module I can say even though life is not found in you, you are still worthy
