Asta Pradhan(Council of Eight Ministers):

Peshwa or Mukhya-Pradhan- Principal Minister of King, he supervises all the ministries, puts his seal on
official letters and documents.

Majumdar or Amtaya- Finance Minister

Waqiya-Navis- Home Minister

Dabir or Samanta- Foreign Minister

Shru Navis or Sachiv- Royal Correspondence

Pandit Rao- Minister of Religion and Culture

Sar-e-Naubat or Senapati- Commander-in-Chief

Nayadhisha- Chief Justice on Civil and Criminal cases.

Partinidhi- (Viceroy) means representative of King, this post was created by Peshwa Raja Ram I, from
here onwards became nine members ministry. His work mainly related to the sign and sealing the official
documents and exercising all powers in the absence of the king. The first who was appointed as
Partinidhi was "Pralhad Niraji" in 1689AD.

In all the departments all the ministers are assisted by some staffs like eight Clerks, one
Diwan(Secretary), Majumdar( auditor and accountant), Fadnis(deputy auditor), Sabnis or
Daftradar(office –in-charge), Karkhanis(commissions), Chitnis(correspondence clerk), Jamdar(treasurer)
and Potnis(cashier).
