4 A’S METHOD

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the pupils are expected to:
. identify the common punctuation marks
. determine the correct/proper usage of punctuation mark
. use appropriate punctuation marks in a sentence.
. participate in the class discussion actively

II. SUBJECT MATTER


a. Topic: Use appropriate Punctuation marks (e.g. period, comma,
exclamation mark, question mark)
b. References: English 3 pp 104-105
c. Materials: pictures, PPT, video

III. PROCEDURE
PRELIMINARIES
. Daily routine
. Opening prayer
. Checking Attendance
. Classroom management
a. Review
The teacher will ask the pupils about the previous lesson.
b. Motivation
The teacher will play a game to the students and it’s called ‘’Guess the pictures’’.
In this activity the students will look at the picture on the screen and they will guess
the name of each pictures. Each picture is only visible for 10 seconds.

A. ACTIVITY

The teacher will play another game to the students and it’s called “1 2 3 GO”. In this
activity the teacher will post a pictures of four punctuation marks in a different
station and students will fall in line in each station after she read words or sentence
and count numbers123. When the students hear GO it is the sign they will goto the
place that
they guess it should be used in each words or sentence.

4. Wow!
5. I like the colours red, green and yellow

B. ANALYSIS
The teacher will ask the following questions.
1. What did you notice in our activity?
2. When we used comma in a sentence?
3. When we used period in a sentence?
4. How about exclamation and question mark, when they are used in a sentence?
5. What do you think is called to this four pictures?In what ways we use
punctuation marks?

C. ABSTRACTION

Now the teacher will discuss the lesson.


Punctuation marks are symbols that are used to aid the clarity and comprehension
of written language.
Period (.)- used at the end of the sentence and when we telling something or
informing. EXAMPLE: Insects have six legs.
Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean on earth.

It also when we make a command or request.


Example: Wash your hands properly.
Please keep the door closed.

Comma (,) use to make a pause between thoughts and also to list
things. EXAMPLE: I like cookies, cupcakes, and cucumbers.

Question mark (?)- use when we are asking a question


Example: Are COVID- 19 vaccines safe?
Who is the founder of facebook?

Exclamation point (!) we use it when expressing a strong feeling


Example: Yay, I passed the exam!
Ouch, my knee hurts!

D. APPLICATION
Direction: I will show them a picture of punctuation marks. All they need to do is to
form a sentence.

IV. EVALUATION
Identify the appropriate punctuation mark. (. , ? ! )

Direction: If the sentence has the correct use of punctuation marks, write
yes. If the sentence has the incorrect use of punctuation marks, write no.

4. After school, Sarah, Jennifer, and Susan need to walk home.
