JURISDICTION
JURISDICTION OF THE REGIONAL TRIAL COURTS:
EXCLUSIVE ORIGINAL JURISDICTION IN CIVIL CASES:
1. Actions where the subject matter of the litigation is incapable of pecuniary estimation;
2. Actions involving marital relations and contract of marriage;
3. Actions not falling within the exclusive original jurisdiction of any officer, court, tribunal
or body exercising judicial or quasi-judicial functions;
4. Actions affecting title to or possession of real properties or any interest therein where
the assessed value of the property exceeds P20,000, or if within Metro Manila, exceeds
P50,000;
5. Actions in maritime and admiralty jurisdiction where the amount of the demand
exceeds P300,000, or if within Metro Manila, exceeds P400,000;
6. Matters of probate, whether testate or intestate, where the gross value of the estate
exceeds P300,000, or if within Metro Manila, exceeds P400,000;
7. Other cases where the amount of the demand exceeds P300,000, or if within Metro
Manila, exceeds P400,000, exclusive of interests, damages, attorney’s fees, litigation
expenses and costs or where the amount of the personal property exceeds P300,000, or
if within Metro Manila, exceeds P400,000.
JURISIDICTION OF METROPOLITAN/MUNICIPAL TRIAL COURTS:
EXCLUSIVE ORIGINAL JURISDICTION IN CIVIL CASES:
1. Actions for forcible entry and unlawful detainer;
2. Land registration and cadastral cases pursuant to its delegated jurisdiction;
3. Cases falling within the rules on summary procedure and revised rules on small claims,
where the amount of the demand does not exceed P100,000, or if within Metro Manila,
does not exceed P200,000;
4. Actions involving title to or possession of real properties, where the assessed value of
the property does not exceed P20,000, or if within Metro Manila, does not exceed
P50,000;
5. Actions in maritime and admiralty jurisdiction where the amount of the demand does
not exceed P300,000, or if within Metro Manila, does not exceed P400,000;
6. Matters of probate, whether intestate or testate, where the gross value of the estate
does not exceed P300,000, or if within Metro Manila, does not exceed P400,000;
7. Other cases where the amount of the demand does not exceed P300,000, or if within
Metro Manila, does not exceed P400,000, exclusive of interests, damages, attorney’s
fees, litigation expenses and costs or where the value of the property does not exceed
P300,000, or if within Metro Manila, does not exceed P400,000.
