THE NINTH EDITION - FEB 2025

ROOTS IVY MODEL UNITED NATIONS I14, 15, 16 FEB

ROOTS IVY’S PREMIER MODEL UN CONFERENCE

MODEL UN EMPOWERS TODAY’S STUDENTS TO BE TOMORROW’S LEADERS.

OUR MISSION

LEARN TODAY, LEAD TOMORROW

RIMUN aims to empower students from high schools around the country through deep
and active engagement with complex global issues. At RIMUN, delegates develop
skills in diplomacy, cooperation, and critical thinking that motivate lifelong global citi-
zenship. Delegates leave RIMUN with the knowledge that they can make an impact and
affect positive change in the world.

THE RIMUN PHILOSOPHY

The drafters of the United Nations charter in June of 1945 envisioned an organization
that would transcend international boundaries and serve as a forum for cooperation and
as a preeminent unifying force on the global stage. RIMUN is held each year in this
same spirit. RIMUN strives to ensure both breadth and depth in our committee offer-
ings. We hope that all delegates find a topic that they are passionate about, and we
ensure that that topic will be debated with comprehensive, educational rigour. Our
chairs work tirelessly both before and throughout the conference to make the debate as
realistic as possible so that our delegates get a sense of the complexities of real-world
international negotiation. And, as with the real United Nations, we strive to emphasise
cooperation and compromise rather than the supremacy of any one country’s position.
In this way, each delegate gets a chance to learn about not only current international
affairs and a particular nation’s policies, but also how to keep to that position while
working with tens or hundreds of other delegates in committee. For Model UN veterans
and novices alike, RIMUN provides a unique and rewarding experience.
