I. Complete the sentences


1. The child is different from the hawker because the Hawker has nothing to
hurry him on, there is no road he must take, no place he must go to and no
time when he must come home.
2. The child is at school from ten in the morning to four in the afternoon
3. The child wants to be like the gardener because he dirties his clothes with
dust, and nobody scolds him if he gets baked in the sun or gets wet.
4. The child likes the job of the watchman because, the watchman never once
goes to bed in his life and walks the streets all night, chasing the shadows in
with his lantern.
II. Answer the following
1. What do you think the poem tells you about the child?
Ans. The poem tells us about the innocence of the child. He is unaware or
does not understand the tough routine that those who work have jobs to
do through.
