DPF (Ash) Cleaning
When the soot is regenerated in the DPF, ash cannot be removed by regeneration and accumulated in the DPF. Since a certain
amount of ash accumulates, back pressure in the exhaust system affects engine performance and fuel efficiency, so make sure
to perform ash cleaning regularly in order to prevent degeneration of engine performance and fuel efficiency. To perform ash
cleaning, the DPF part of the DPF assembly must be disassembled. Although the intervals vary depending on the operating
conditions, operating environment and type of engine used oil, ash cleaning should generally be performed based on
maintenance intervals under normal conditions. It is necessary to have cleaning or exchanging of DPF when the following
condition is happened.
For the Engine ash cleaning cycle by application, please refer to the DPF user's manual of Engine maintenance manual After
Treatment System.
1. Display Ash cleaning interval reached (P-code: P242F)
2. Need to remove soot in the DPF due to large amount of soot is plugged. (P-Code: P246C, P2465, Soot >150%)
DPF Cleaning Guide
Make sure not to damage the ceramic material DPF during cleaning process.
Pre-conditioning for DPF (Ash) cleaning
Soot should be burnt using service or switch regeneration before ash cleaning.
Pre-conditioning for soot plugged case (P246C, P2465, Soot >150%)
DPF cleaning is possible when P246C, P2465 and Soot >150% are occurred. These are caused by heavy soot accumulation
in the DPF without a DPF regeneration event and DOC inlet cells plugging. Before DPF cleaning, wet soot must be dried in
thermal oven. Dry temperature condition: 300 ~ 400°C, over than 1 hour. Do not burn DPF over 500°C.
Remove the DPF from vehicle*
1. Disassemble bolt of MTG bracket at rear side. 2. Disassemble clamp of DOC side.

DPF (Soot & Ash) Cleaning
The compressed dry air is recommended for cleaning media.
Proper compressed air pressure: below 5 bar
High pressure water (w/, w/o detergent) is not recommended for cleaning media because high pressure water can damage
and foul the catalyst of DPF.
The manual DPF cleaning is not recommended because the ash is hazardous waste for health.
The automatic ash cleaning machine is recommended. (See the ash cleaning machine in the next slide)
The pressure drop of DPF should be below table on room temperature for verifying ash cleaning.

Reset by Diagnosis Tool
In order to replace with New DPF or reuse an Ash-cleaned DPF, it must be initialized by using HDI's diagnosis tool.
If not initialized, the ECU recognizes the amount of old Soot, so an alarm may occur to the customer to perform forced
regeneration when the equipment is running.
                                                                                                                  EEX220006
[Purpose]
Initialization is performed when exchanging new DPF or reusing Ash cleaned DPF.
[Procedure]
1 Click the "Apply" button
2 Click the "Yes" button on the pop up
3 Click the "OK" button on the pop up
Note) To initialize the variable value, power latch is a must.
