By the end of this section you should be able to:
• Control various aspects in the page layout.
• Change the appearance of the body text.
• Control all types of spacing throughout a document.
• Insert and edit images, shapes, lists and tables.
• Insert page numbers, file info and date/time.
• Divide the document using new pages/page breaks.
• Define and utilize headers and footers.
• Define and utilize corporate house styles.
• Use hyperlinks and bookmarks
• Spell check and proofread the document.
• Save the document into an appropriate format and
print it.

Guide 1

You are going to edit a document for the company Travel.


1. Using Microsoft Office Word, open the file SALES.rtf.
2. Set the page orientation to landscape.
3. Set the top and bottom margins to 2 cm and the left and right
margins to 2 cm.
4. Set the page size to A4.
5. Save the document as SALES BY followed by your name, make
sure it is saved as word document.
6. Place your name left aligned in the header and automated page
number right aligned in the footer.
Make sure that headers and footers are displayed on all pages.
7. Set all the text to be a serif font, left aligned, 11 points.
8. Set the line spacing to be 1.5.
9. Format the entire document into 2 columns with equal width and a
2 cm space between the columns.
10. Set the paragraph spacing to be 12 points after each paragraph.
11. Indent the first line of the first paragraph by 1 cm.
12. Insert a new page before the first paragraph.
13. Insert the title Sales by Travel in this new page.
14. Format only this page to a single column.
15. Center align the title, set it to a sans-serif, 36 points and italic font.
16. Insert the subtitle Report by followed by your name, below the
title.
17. Right align the subtitle, set it to a sans-serif and 18 points font.
18. Search for the paragraph that starts with “Our new offering is at …”
and move it to be the second paragraph.
19. Find the list in the document and change it to be bulleted list.

You are going to edit a document for the company Coffee.


1. Using Microsoft Office Word, open the file COFFEE.rtf.
2. Set the page orientation to portrait.
3. Set all the margins to 1.5 cm.
4. Set the page size to A4.
5. Save the document as COFFEEDOC, make sure it is saved as word
document.

You are going to edit a document for the company Hothouse.


1. Using Microsoft Office Word, Open the file HOTHOUSE.rtf.
2. This company has a corporate house style that needs to be
followed, it is defined as follows:

ICT-Title serif 36 pt Center 0 pt 0 pt Bold
ICT-Subtitle sans-serif 24 pt Right 0 pt 12 pt All Caps

3. The ICT-Body Text style is already created, edit this style to be


jusitifed and sans-serif font. Make sure it’s based on the default
paragraph style.
4.Create a new word document called Evidence, this will contain all
the screenshots you are going to take.
5. Take a screenshot to show all the settings for the ICT-Body Text
style only.
6. Take a screenshot from the style manager showing all the style
names.
7. Enter the title Hothouse Design at the start of the document.
8. Apply the ICT-Title style to the title.
9. Below the title enter the subtitle Report by: followed by your name.
10. Apply the ICT-Subtitle style to the subtitle.
11. Apply the ICT-Body Text style to the body text.
12. Place, today’s date left aligned and your name right aligned, in
the header.
13. Place the total number of pages left aligned and the filename
right aligned along with its path, in the footer.

14. Locate the table and apply the following edits:
- Add a new row after the last row with the data C, Dark, Egypt.
- All the borders are visible.
- Only the outside borders are black 3 points thick.
- Merge the first row and shade it with (20-30%) grey.

it with a light grey color. TIP: Don’t forget to add your
