"SETUP" key - This key is used to
scroll through the parameters in the
setup menu.
Up Arrow and Down Arrow - These
keys are used to select values for the
parameters in the setup menu.
"ENTER/ACK" key - This key is used
to save new values.
To configure parameters with the keypad, press the "SETUP" key during the normal display
mode. After you select the desired configuration, press the "ENTER/ACK" key. "SAVED" is then
displayed on the screen.
"ESC" key - This key is used to exit
from any function of the setup menu.
If you are in the process of configuring but no changes to the configuration are desired, press the
"ESC" key in order to exit from the menu. The scanner will return to the normal display. New
information is saved only if the "ENTER/ACK" key is pressed and "SAVED" is displayed on the
screen.
Some of the parameters have more than one level. For the configuration of the first level, the time
limit between the keystrokes is 15 seconds. 60 seconds are allowed between keystrokes for other
levels. If the time elapses without a keystroke, the scanner automatically returns to the normal
display without saving any changes.
"UNITS" - The temperature can be displayed in °C or in °F. The temperatures are automatically
converted to the selected units.
Use the following procedure to change the units:
1. Press the SETUP key until "UNITS" appears on the display.
The current units will appear.
2. Use the up arrow key or the down arrow key to change units.
Note: To exit this function without changing the setting, press the "ESC" key before you
press the "ENTER/ACK" key.
3. Press the "ENTER/ACK" key in order to save the change.
After "SAVED" appears, the display returns to the normal mode. The new units and the
converted temperatures are displayed.
"AUTOSCAN" - This function enables automatic scrolling of the display.

For "AUTOSCAN" set to "YES", the number one channel is displayed first. The subsequent
channels scroll through the display in numerical order at the rate of approximately two seconds
per channel. The process is continuously repeated.
For "AUTOSCAN" set to "NO", the number one channel is displayed first. The operator must
scroll through the subsequent channels. To scroll through the other channels, the operator must use
the up arrow key or the down arrow key.
Use the following procedure to configure the "AUTOSCAN":
1. Press the "SETUP" key until "AUTOSCAN" is displayed.
2. Use the up arrow key or the down arrow key to SELECT "YES" or "NO".
Note: To exit this function without changing the setting, press the "ESC" key before you
press the "ENTER/ACK" key.
3. Press the "ENTER/ACK" key in order to save the new value.
"FILTER VALUE" - The scanner's filter is used to stabilize the reading from a thermocouple
with a signal that is fluctuating. The filtering delays the rate of updating the information from the
thermocouples. The filtering also delays the reaction of the output switches.
The values for the filter are numbered from 1 to 255. The value of 1 represents the minimum
filtering. A value of 255 is the maximum filtering. The default value is 195. Table 4 lists some
examples of the values and the approximate time for settling of the display.

2. Use the up arrow key to increase the value. Use the down arrow key to decrease the value.
Note: To exit this function without changing the setting, press the "ESC" key before you
press the "ENTER/ACK" key.
3. Press the "ENTER/ACK" key in order to save the new value.
"CYLINDERS" - This parameter tells the scanner the number of active cylinders in the engine.
Use the following procedure to configure the number of engine cylinders:
1. Press the "SETUP" key until "CYLINDERS" is displayed.
2. Use the up arrow key or the down arrow key in order to select the desired number of
cylinders.
Note: To exit this function without changing the setting, press the "ESC" key before you
press the "ENTER/ACK" key.
3. Press the "ENTER/ACK" key in order to save the new selection.
"TURBOS" - This parameter tells the scanner the number of active turbochargers on the engine.
This parameter also tells the scanner the number of thermocouples to monitor for the
turbochargers (inlet and/or outlet).
Use the following procedure to configure the number of turbochargers:
1. When the ETM is turned on, the display screen will look similar to Illustration 1.

Illustration 5.
9. Return to the monitoring screen by pressing the "ESC" key.
"SET ARM TEMP" - The average cylinder exhaust temperature must achieve the arming
temperature before the scanner activates the start-up timer. The arming temperature can be set to
any temperature within the range of the scanner. The range of the scanner is 0 to 850 °C (32 to
1562 °F).

"SET TIMER" - The start-up timer must elapse before the scanner can monitor the selected
setpoints.
Use the following procedure to set the timer:
"SETPTS" key
1. Press the "SETPTS" key until "SET TIMER" is displayed.
2. Use the up arrow key or the down arrow key in order to select the desired number of
minutes.
Note: To exit this function without changing the setting, press the "ESC" key before you
press the "ENTER/ACK" key.
3. Press the "ENTER/ACK" key in order to save the new selection.
Default Configuration
Note: Most of the default configurations that are programmed at the factory can be reprogrammed.
Output Switches - The two output switches can be dedicated to any combination of setpoints. The
default configuration is listed in Table 2. Each output switch can be configured to be normally
open or normally closed. The default configuration is normally open. Each switch can also be
configured for latching or nonlatching. The default configuration is nonlatching.
Note: The scanner's filter will delay the reaction of the output switches.
The output switches will react if the temperature is exceeded for a selected setpoint. A hysteresis
of 5 °C (10 °F) prevents the output switches from rapidly turning on and off when the temperature
is near the threshold. The hysteresis is also a factor when the temperature falls below the setpoint.
The output of a nonlatching switch is automatically cleared when the temperature falls below the
setpoint and the hysteresis.

3516C Generator Set SBK00001-UP(SEBP4371 - 21) - Documentation Página 13 de 15
Latching output must be cleared by the operator. The operator must press the "RESET" key for
approximately three seconds until "RESET" is displayed.
"SETPOINTS ACTIVE W/ARM TEMP & TIMER" - This parameter is a condition for
arming of the setpoints for the alarm conditions.
All of the setpoints for the alarms can be configured to be armed by the input for engine rotation
only. The circuit for the input for engine rotation must be open in order for the scanner to detect
alarm conditions.
The setpoints for the alarms can also be configured to be armed by the arming temperature and the
start-up timer ("SETPOINTS ACTIVE W/ARM TEMP & TIMER"). For more information, refer
to Systems Operation, "Start-up Sequence".
