READING
7 Read the text and choose the correct options.
Want to be successful in life? Start playing the piano!
Not everyone who is learning to play the piano will become the next classical music genius or have a sell-out
world tour, but did you know that learning to play the piano can also help you develop some practical life skills?
Time management
As with any other hobby, to master the piano, you need to organise a regular schedule for lessons and practice.
Decide when to practise and stick to your routine. If you have a busy schedule, this can be challenging, but it’s
a great way to learn time-management skills.
Creativity
Unsurprisingly, learning the piano will help you with creativity. At first, you will copy others, but if you are
curious, you will start to play your own tunes. But your creativity is not limited to music. Many famous
musicians have later become film directors or artists.
Be a team player or a leader
You might think pianists are lonely types who spend hours locked away in their rooms. While being alone
is useful when you are learning the basics, you can also develop skills by performing with others. As part
of a group, you will need to work as a team to create a perfect sound. The person who leads and coordinates
the group will also learn important leadership skills.
Achieving goals
At first, you might feel pessimistic as it can take a long time to see results. But hang on in there! For most
people, playing any instrument well is not easy, but practice makes perfect! If you keep going when things
are difficult, you will get even greater satisfaction when you reach your goals.
So don’t forget all the benefits you get while experiencing the joy of playing music!
