Scope of Work

Review:
 All ships Certificates, Equipment Certificates.
 Latest Quarterly Survey Listing from Class showing all outstanding conditions (if any).
 Hull executive summary from class for last Special survey, UTM and work done then.
 Work done and UTM during last dry docking / repair period after special survey.
 All national and flag-state licenses for officers and crew.
 Copy of last USCG examination report.
 Copy of last Port State Control examination report.
 Copy of last Flag State Examination report.
 Deck, engine, official log books and oil record books, and other logs.
 Load test and wire certificates for cargo gear.

Conduct:
 A detailed inspection of deck, accommodation and engine room.

 Internal examination of available water ballast tanks and peak tanks.
 Internal examination of all cargo tanks for charterers’ cargo, overflow and overfill alarms,
CCR and pump room.
 Examination of hatch covers, and their operating, securing and sealing system.
 Inspection of coaming drain channel non-return valves.
 Inspection of cargo hold bilges. Suction test. Test non-return valves (if possible).
 Inspection and running test of all mooring equipment. SWL certificates.
 Check food stores refrigeration plant as well as cleanliness of the food compartments and
galley.
 A check of the hospital. Check the list of the equipment – certificate(s).

Additional:
 Request the Chief Engineer to be available to provide information on consumptions and
machinery maintenance details.
 Check charts and their corrections.
 Check the fire fighting (PP equipment, CO2, fire flaps, fuel cut-offs etc.) and life- saving

equipment including lifeboat and its gear. Officer in charge of this should be available at the
time of examination.
 Check the approved stability book with approval stamp from present class/flag.
 If PC based stress/stability program is being used then check the letter of approval for
program. The PC must be available.
 Check the ISM, ISPS certificate and audit reports.
 Photographs to be taken: general condition and any defects. Photos of defects to show the
general view/situation and then close-up clearly illustrating the defect.

Tanker-Specific Inspection Items:


 Check that the records of crew work/rest hours are kept as per MLC 2006.
 Check that the crew matrix is satisfactory.
 View the STCW endorsement for cargoes allowed to be carried on board.
 View the personal protective equipment on board (boiler suits, safety footwear, ear
protection, safety harnesses and chemical protection equipment).
 Check that the ISGOTT ship/shore check list is used at all times.
 Check that the smoking regulations are posted and adhered too.
 Check that the accommodation space atmosphere is maintained at a higher pressure than
that of ambient air.
 Check that the Enclosed Space Entry Procedure is known and adhered to.
 Check that sufficient gas analysis equipment is on board, including personal gas monitors.
 Check that the fire fighting systems and equipment are available and in good condition.
 Verify Condition of scupper plugs.
 Check that equipment for dealing with small oil spills is readily available.
 Verify that cargo system, sea and overboard valves are suitably lashed or blanked.
 Verify that the cargo and ballast handling and monitoring equipment are in good condition.
 Check that the vessel is capable of operating under a closed condition.
 Check that the inert gas system is in good condition and working order.
 Check that the crude-oil washing equipment is in good condition and working order.

Further Requirements
 The Condition List to be signed by the Master and a copy left on board. Forward scanned
copy to Idwal Marine.
2  Upon completion of inspection, the inspector will inform Idwal Marine (email and/or phone
as appropriate) of the inspection result, whether the vessel has: Passed -OR- Conditionally
Passed -OR- Failed.

Documents
 Within 24 hours of completing the survey, the Condition list of Part A is to be emailed to
3 Idwal Marine.
 Within 5 days of completing survey, the complete report Part A, B and C (photos) are to be
provided to Idwal Marine.
