Band Heater

Band heaters are electric heaters designed for heating cylindrical surfaces in industrial applications, featuring a flexible insulating layer and a resistance heating element. They are used for various purposes, including maintaining liquid viscosity and preventing freezing, with types such as mica and ceramic band heaters available for different temperature requirements. Key specifications include a power rating starting at 50 watts, a design temperature up to 600°C, and applications in packaging, injection molding, and medical equipment.

BAND HEATER

Band Heater Overview:

Band heaters are a type of electric heater commonly used in industrial applications to heat
cylindrical surfaces, such as pipes, barrels, and other containers. They consist of a flexible,
insulating outer layer and an inner resistance heating element. The outer layer is often made of
materials like silicone rubber, mica, or ceramic, which provide electrical insulation and
protection against environmental factors.

The inner heating element is typically a coil of resistance wire, such as nickel-chromium
(Nichrome) wire. When an electric current passes through the resistance wire, it generates heat.
The band heater is designed to wrap around the cylindrical object, and the generated heat is
transferred to the surface, raising the temperature of the object.

Band heaters are widely used in various industries for applications such as maintaining the
viscosity of liquids, preventing freezing in pipes, and ensuring the proper temperature of
materials during processing. They are known for their flexibility, ease of installation, and ability
to provide efficient and uniform heating.

There are different types of band heaters, including:

1. Mica Band Heaters: These have a mica-based insulation layer.
2. Ceramic Band Heaters: These use a ceramic insulation layer for higher temperature
applications.
