PUNCTUATION MARKS

It is better if the color blue is used in the answers.


All the theory for this exercise is in the booklet.
Where there are periods it means that you have to write, for example, sentences, words,
punctuation marks or another requested element. Erase the dots before writing.

Application exercises

1. Spot
1.1. Place periods and capital letters where appropriate to form three paragraphs with their respective
sentences.

a cooperative is an autonomous association of people who have voluntarily come together to meet
their economic, social and cultural needs. There are different types of cooperatives: consumer
cooperatives are those that buy mass-use items directly from producers, eliminating intermediaries

2. Coma

2.1.The vocative is used to invoke the recipient and can be placed at the beginning, middle or end of the
sentence and is always placed between commas. In the following sentences the place of the vocative
changes.

a. Carmen, please give the key to the front door to that boy.

Please, Carmen, give that boy the key to the front door.

b. I wish, dear reader, to tell you things as they happened.

Dear reader, I wish to tell you things as they happened.

2.2.The different members of an enumeration are enclosed in commas. Put them on.

a. The hat, the face, the clothes, the legs, the hands, were the color of the earth.

b. A low wall separated the garden from the orchard of quince trees, pear trees, fig trees and vines that

reached to the other street.

c. Playful children, joyful grandparents, vendors, and guests passed through the square of broken paving

stones.

2.3.Clarifications, explanations and appropriations are placed between commas. Put them on.

a. Don't touch them, they told me, because they can be poisonous.

b. The earwig, one of the bravest birds, attacked with tremendous fury.

2.4.Connectors are placed between commas, for example: finally, lastly, however, etc. Place the commas
where the connectors are.

2.5.Verbal ellipsis is indicated with a comma. Put it on.

a. The old man remained silent for a long time; so did I.

2.6.All kinds of commas are missing in this text, please color them.

International experts from the World Health Organization establish that one of the most important

4.1. Explain the use of colons in the following statements.
