(A) Importance For The Study

This document outlines a study on quality control and improvement at a manufacturing company. It discusses: 1) The importance of quality control and continuous improvement for meeting customer requirements and managing organizations effectively. 2) The need for the study to bridge the gap between quality control and assurance to reduce inspection costs, ensure smooth production, and fulfill customer needs. 3) The objectives of identifying defect causes, analyzing and eliminating defects to reduce costs, improve quality, increase production, and reduce waste and processing time. 4) The research methodology of identifying problems, designing sampling, collecting attribute data, analyzing data through tools like pareto diagrams and control charts.

(A ) Importance for the study

Quality means meeting customer requirement. Quality control is concerned with defect detection by using post production inspection procedures Main focus is on the product -- i.e. what is wrong with product (or part) Improvement effort has become the basic practice for managing any organization. In order for the effort to be effective, continuous and long lasting, A methodological approach must be used to identify, understand and address improvement opportunities. 7 Q.C. Tools are Flow Charts --- Understanding mess Check sheets -- finding facts( data collection) Pareto diagrams identifying problem Histogram -- identifying problem Cause and Effect diagrams -- generating ideas Scatter diagram developing solution 7 Control charts -- implementation 7Q. C. Tools are used in QC activities to uncover the problem, arrange the data, analyze the cause carryout the

countermeasures for improvement and to ensure the continuous improvement changes. Most of them will be using numerical data in their applications to improve the . 7 Q. C. Tools are fundamental instruments

Quality of product. They are also used to analyze the production process, identify major problems, control fluctuations of product quality and provide solutions to avoid future defects. By using 7 Q.C. Tools, specific problems in a process can be identified such tools are beneficial to any company, regardless of its current level of quality achievement

(B) Need for the study

Traditionally, the quality control mechanism has been found to be quite expensive in manufacturing industries and also it could not result in zero defect production. So the study has undertaken to fill in the gap between quality control and quality assurance so that this company , under study , can identify the causes of defect and remove them,

So that Inspection cost can be reduced Production can be smoothly kept on Customers requirement can be fulfilled

(C) Objective of the study

Objective of the study are given below--1-- To identify causes of defects by collecting the attribute data 2 -- To analyze and eliminate defects So that --- Cost can be reduced. --- Quality can be improved. --- Production can be increased. -- Wastage or scrape can be reduced. -- Processing time can be reduced.

(D)Research methodology to be used for carrying out the study

Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. Every researcher has to design methodology for his problem. To affect this plan and to get deeper into the system, the following methodology was adopted. 1 - Research Problem Products 2 - Research Design 3- Sampling Design (a) Probability sampling design -- simple random ---Descriptive --Decreasing Defective

sampling method will be used

(b) Sample (c)

size -- sample size would be 50

Sampling unit -- attribute

4 - Nature of Data --Attribute data which cannot be measured on continuous scale would be used for the study

5Data sources -- Primary data were collected through self observation. This method implies the collection of data by way of investigators own observation. - Secondary data will be collected through magazine, internet etc. 6 Data collection method Observation method will be used for data collection 7- Analysis of data --Analysis of data will be done through the use of pareto diagram, cause and effect diagrams and control charts etc.

(E)Expected contribution from the study

Expected contribution from the study will be
1 2 3 4

Confirming product can be produced Continuous improvement can be going on in future Customers complaint may be reduced. Potential customers may be increased

6 5

Revenue of the company may be increased

6 Reputation of the company can be increased 7 Quality consciousness may be increased 8 Company may be able to compete its competitor in healthy competitive environment

(F) Limitations
1 Time is the main constraint. This process takes more time in collecting and intercepted 2 - Q... C. reports have to be given to the dispatch department after long time. So dispatching of goods may be delayed 3 Q.C. department has no right to take valuable decision 4 -- Trained quality controller is limited 5 -- Chance of error may be. Mistake s is inevitable 6 Identification of problem may be wrong due to error so this process of 7 QC tools has to be repeated twice or more analyzing the data. So, production may be

(G) Direction for future research

Study may be further repeated in another organization in future for identifying the problem and eliminating them .This type of study can be done in power plant, process industry, and government, health and tourism services etc. 7 Q.C.tools can be applied to almost any practical pronlem.
