METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH METHOD

The researchers use the experimental research method since this method allows the
researchers to precisely control and measure the variables of the experiment and observe the effect of
the stain cleaner on the different stains. This efficiently helps the researchers to determine the
effectivity of the stain cleaner.

MATERIALS

The materials to be used in the study will be __tsp baking soda, ___mL water, ___ mL calamansi
extract, and __mL fabric softener. Table 1 displays the material to be used in the development of a
portable stain cleaner using calamansi extract, baking soda, and fabric softener.

Materials Quantity
Baking soda __ teaspoons
Water __ milliliters
Calamansi extract __ milliliters
Fabric softener __ milliliters

EQUIPMENT AND UTENSILS

The equipment and utensils to be used in producing a portable stain cleaner using calamansi
extract, baking soda, and fabric softener are: gloves, testing fabric, stirring rod, test tube, beaker,
measuring spoon, measuring cup, strainer, and funnel. Table 2 shows the equipment and utensils to be
used in the development of a portable stain cleaner using calamansi extract, baking soda, and fabric
softener.

Equipment and utensils Unit

Gloves 3 sets
Testing fabric 1
Stirring rod 1
Test tube 3
Beaker 1
Measuring spoon 1
Measuring cup 1 set
Strainer 1
Funnel 1

Procedure

Formulation of the Portable Stain Cleaner. The experimental group involves mixing the
ingredients: baking soda, water, calamansi juice, and fabric softener. First, the calamansi is juiced and
strained to remove the seeds and pulp. Next, measure the appropriate amount of calamansi extract and
set aside in a test tube. Then, accurately measure the required amount of fabric softener and place in a
test tube. Correctly measure the water needed and pour into beaker. Then, measure the needed
amount of baking soda using a measuring spoon. Combine all ingredients previously measured in the
beaker and stir thoroughly with a stirring rod until a homogenous solution forms.

Packaging the Stain Cleaner. The stain cleaner mixture is poured into a recycled or any
accessible container, preferably a spray bottle. A funnel will then be used to transfer the cleaner into the
chosen container to avoid waste and spillage. The spray nozzle, or lid, is then securely attached, and it is
recommended that the container is labeled with details of its composition and purpose, ensuring the
stain cleaner is portable, accessible, and environmentally friendly for quick stain removal.

Evaluation of the Product. The stain cleaners are then tested on the same type of fabric, but
with different types of stains. The effect of the stain cleaner is then observed by a panel of testers based
on quality attributes such as color, texture, scent, and overall cleaning effectiveness. The fabric will be
observed in a laboratory to inspect the disinfecting properties of the stain cleaner.
