Chuflippo is an original crochet pattern designed by Jordan Sumodobila. | 2023 Sumo Goods.

He’s chunky. He’s floppy. He’s a hippo. He’s Chuflippo!

Thank you so much for purchasing my first pattern. (Although I’ve been designing crochet patterns for
years, I’ve been hesitant in sharing them with the world.) I hope you enjoy making Chuflippo as much
as I enjoyed designing him. I appreciate your courtesy in refraining from redistributing, reproducing, or
reselling any part of this pattern.

the left leg and 18 st for the right leg. See Figure 9. The hippo’s right leg (marked in blue) will be
worked first. Add or remove dc sts as needed, so that Round 1 of the right leg starts in the blue-

Leg Rounds 1-10.

Knotting the Legs

Slip knot each of the legs as shown in Figure 12-16. (This step may induce slight sweating, as it takes a
bit of squeezing and pulling to get the foot through the knot loop.) J Once you’re happy with the
placement, tighten the knot by incrementally pulling the upper and lower sides of the legs.

With the eyes and snout facing up, mark 2 sts on Round 3 of the body, centered, 5 sts apart. The arms
will be made around these sts. See Figure 17. Turn the hippo so the snout is facing up and the legs
are facing away from you. See Figure 18.
