HOW TO SETUP YOUR ANDROID TABLET FOR WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY
1. TURNING ON YOUR TABLET
• Press and hold down the power button on your tablet for 10 seconds
• Once the tablet has started up, proceed to login to your tablet
2. ENABLING WIRELESS TO WORK AT UKZN
• Tap on Application (Apps) icon (Top right of screen)
• Scroll for Settings icon
• Tap on Settings icon
• Swipe to turn Wi-Fi on
• Locate UKZNDATA in the list of available Wi-Fi networks
• Tap and hold UKZNDATA till a new pop up window opens
• Tap the Modify Network option
3. MODIFY NETWORK SETTINGS
The following network settings must be chosen from their respective drop down lists in order to successfully connect to the UKZNDATA network:
Security : 802.1x EAP
EAP method : PEAP
Phase 2 authentication : None
CA certificate : (unspecified)
User certificate : (unspecified)
Identity : UKZN\Student number
Anonymous identity : Leave this blank
Password : LAN Password
Tap the tick box to enable the Show password option to verify the correct password is typed (A tick must appear in the box).
• Then Tap Save to save changes made to the network
• Make sure that the network status shows Connected under UKZNDATA
4. BROWSING THE INTERNET ON YOUR TABLET
• Tap the Internet icon to open the browser to surf the internet
• A login box may appear on screen, type in the following to authenticate onto the UKZNDATA network:
Username: UKZN\Student Number
Password : LAN Password
• Continue browsing the internet as normal.
