Comment:
The dengue Rapid Test is a two sided- lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay to detect antibodies to 4 serotypes of Dengue
Virons.This test is a qualitative assay and cannot quantitate antibody concentration.A negative result does not rule out dengue
infection as the antibodies might be of low concentration at early stages.In early infections and some secondary infections
detectable IgM antibodies may appear within first 7-10 days of infection. Serological crossreactivity with other flavivirus is
common. The test cannot be used to monitor therapy or toestimate the relative antibody titre. All positive results by this
sereening test should be confirmed by other available methodologies as all screening methods are bound by their own limitations.
The sensitivity of IgM is 95% and IgG is 90%.Specificity of the test is 98%.
