SCOPE AND IMPORTANCE

India is one of the largest producers of tea in the world accounting to


1325.05 million kgs 0f production in FY 2018. The revenue generated
from the export of tea also has risen to 5064.88 crores, this shows
that the production of tea in a developing country like India helps
boots its economy. The major tea producing states in India are assam
and west Bengal. For the state of assam, tea production contributes
15% to the state’s economy. The tea industry creates employment
opportunities for the rural population of the state. The total tea
produced in Assam and west Bengal accounts for 45% and 22.36% of
the total production respectively. The tea from Assam has a pungent
smell and is famous for its liquor, whereas the tea from west Bengal
is famous for its aroma and flavor.
