DEMONSTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
For the Trainee:
Given the necessary materials you are required to demonstrate
how to install lighting fixtures/switches
TIME DURATION: 19 min.
The following tasks should be accomplished:
● Before starting the task, identify safety practices to be observed
and wear PPE.
● Prepare and identify tools, materials and equipment needed for
installing lighting fixtures/switches.
● Work under standard of Philippine Electrical code.
Key steps in the demonstration:
Safety First:
Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before working on the
electrical system.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves and
safety glasses.
Verify the circuit is energized using a voltage tester.
Preparation:
Gather necessary tools and materials: wire strippers, screwdriver, drill,
screws, anchors, voltage tester, electrical tape, light fixture, switch,
electrical cable, junction box.
Identify the location of the existing power source in the ceiling or wall.
Determine the appropriate wire gauge and type based on the fixture
and circuit requirements.
Wiring the switch:
Strip the ends of the electrical wires according to manufacturer
specifications.
Connect the black (hot) wire from the power source to the "line"
terminal on the switch.
Connect the white (neutral) wire from the power source to the
"neutral" terminal on the switch.
Connect the black wire from the switch to the fixture's "load" wire.
Installing the Fixture:
Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling or wall using screws and
anchors.
Secure the fixture to the mounting bracket, ensuring proper
alignment.
Connect the wires from the switch to the corresponding wires on the
fixture, following color coding.
Final Checks:
Securely tighten all connections and ensure no exposed wires.
Restore power at the circuit breaker.
Test the switch and fixture to verify proper functionality.
For the Trainer:
● The institutional assessment will cover the learning outcome:
➢ Clean bar tools and equipment
➢ Clean Public Areas
● The assessment method is based on the evidence plan and this
include
➢ Demonstration with questioning
➢ Written Test
● The trainer will give feedback at the end of the assessment. The
feedback shall indicate:
➢ COMPETENT
➢ NOT YET COMPETENT
