our body.

It is essential in regulating growth and


development metabolism, as well as
reproductive processes and mood.

"within", krinein, mean "separate", i.e.,
to secrete) are ductless glands that
secrete hormones directly into either
the bloodstream or the fluid around
cells (extracellular fluid).
What are exocrine glands?
Exocrine glands (exo means outward)
deliver substances through ducts. The
ducts transport the chemical to specific
locations in the body.
Examples of exocrine glands are the
sweat glands, mucus glands, and
salivary glands.

They are special protein substances,
which are present in small quantities
in the body.

They bring about changes in cells or


tissues, which are referred to as their
"targets".
