Warm-up
Share your thoughts.
- What are some different communication styles?
Warm-up
- Which communication style do you prefer?
- If people are able to understand the basic
meaning in conversations, are small grammar and
vocabulary mistakes important? Why or why not?
- Do you think a universal, world language will ever
be possible? Why or why not?
1) In my opinion diffrent comunication styles are diferents way to say to talk the same thing, For example, is it possible to say a bad
information with a positive mindset about this new or with a negative mindset. It is possible to say some information politely or
informall.
2) I prefer to comunicate politely all the time and mensuring this kind of comunicating during the times. So I will change the
communication style according the perceptions.
3) In my opinion vocabulary mistakes could be important if this mistakes cause some ofenses, but In this case is possible to explain
in the start of dialogue that our voculary is small , so sorry about it if i commit some mistake.
4) Yes do. But I have the opinion that the universal language always will follow the stronger economical country. For example, some
year ago, like in 1990 years, We won't believe that mandarin woulb be a language to study or undestand better.
And you can quote me…
Read and answer the questions.
"Never go to bed angry, stay up and fight."
And you
-- William Congreve
(English Playwright, 1670-1729)
can
- What does this quote mean to you?
quote
- Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? me…
- Do you think it is best to communicate about a
problem or to take some time away from the problem?
Why?
- Do you follow the advice from this quote in your life?
Why or why not?
1) This qutote to me that is necessary to take part or responsability during dificult moments. So, the main idea of the author is show
us that is necessary to express my idea or opinion during a hard moments.
2) I agree, but in my opinion depends of the situations that I am. I say it but I believe taht sometimes is better to make silence than
to say something.
3) I believe that is necessary to talk about problems first because one small problems could increase if don't receive any treatment.
So, for me, put a problem way is to give chance for the problem increases.
4) I follow it sometimes. I am a christian person and I believe in God, and He teaches us that there are situations that is better to
make silence.
Speak your mind.
Share your thoughts and opinions.
Which is better?
- Having a boss with a passive communication style or Speak
an aggressive communication style?
- Living with someone who prefers to avoid conflict or
your
with someone who prefers to discuss conflicts?
mind.
- Saving back-up (extra) copies of online
communication in case it is needed in the future or
destroying records of online communication to protect
privacy?
In my opinion depends of the situation. For example, Imagine a person that are leading soldiers to the war with a
passive communications. What will be the results of the team? So in this case I agree that agressive
communication give better results than passive.
I prefer to live with someoone that prefers to avoid conflits because I believe that it will happen, so It is necessary
to know how to balance this things avoiding to make the problem increase and in the correct moment to start the
dialogue about it if the problem could be delayed.
Again, for me depends of the situation. For example, I love my wife and I don't like to record bad moments. So I try
to save backups about good moments. But If I would be a police, save extra copies would be necessary as a
prove about something.
Imagine that!
As a class, create a story.
Imagine you have won a television contest – a
celebrity is going to design your dream house for
you! You have 30 seconds to explain your idea of
a dream home, then you are not able to
Imagine
communicate with the celebrity again until the
house is finished! that!
1. Make a plan – tell the class how you plan to use your
30 seconds (a description of specific details, general
characteristics, etc.). Why do you think your plan will
help you be clear?
2. Give your speech about a dream home. Watch the
clock and stop after 30 seconds! Do your classmates
have a good understanding of what you are looking
for?
My dream is to leave in a house well designed, a little distant the street and with free
ways in every sides around it. This house won't have stairs and have techonologies
using sun energy and recycle rain water. This house needs to be cold during the
summer and ways to be warm during the winter. I would love to have grass, flowers and
unless two kind of fruits in the garden.
Answer me this!
Take turns asking each other questions.
1. Is it best to communicate in person or in writing about
important topics? Why? Answer
2. Is “following” someone on social media a form of
communication? Why or why not? me this!
3. Do you communicate differently with different people
in your life? Explain.
4. Do you think it is more important to be honest or to be
polite? Why?
5. “A picture is worth a thousand words” is a popular
expression. What are some situations where pictures or
videos can be better forms of communication than
speaking or writing?
Before you go!
Here’s some cultural fun:
According to the article “How Morality Changes
Before you
in a Foreign Language,” published by Scientific
American, some people look at ethical issues go!
differently in their native language vs. in a foreign
language.
People may make decisions based more on
emotions in their native language, but based
more on logic in a foreign language.
- Why do you think studies show this?
- How many languages do you speak?
- Do you think differently in English or in your other
languages than in your native language? Why?
