Starter Activity: (5 minutes)
Question Quiz
Begin the lesson by asking a simple question to activate prior knowledge. By asking students why they think it's important
to be kind to others, you encourage them to reflect on basic principles of good citizenship. Use this to introduce the topic
of being a good citizen.
HOT: Why do you think it’s important to be kind to others?

Guided Practice: (10 minutes)


Pair Tutoring
Teacher will make pairs, students will discuss the qualities of a good citizen, such as showing respect, being honest, and
being kind. Provide sentence starters to help guide their conversation, such as: "A good citizen is someone who…"
"I think being honest means…Walk around to observe conversations, prompting students with questions like HOT: Which
quality do you think is most important?" to keep discussions on track.

Independent Practice (10 minutes)


List Qualities of a Good Citizen on Colored Sheet
Task 1: Write 6-7 good qualities of a citizen.
Task 2: Write 3-4 good qualities and draw its symbols.

Wrap-up (5 minutes)
Exit Ticket
For the exit ticket, ask each student to write one quality of a good citizen on a small slip of paper before they leave.
HOT: Which quality of a good citizen do you think you will practice today? Why?
